I find this to be a very good book. I'm currently reading it for the 3rd or 4th time. :] But the reason I've read it so many times over about a year or so is because it's so short. I read it in a day last summer.

I'm reading this book for the first time currently. I have the same feelings as you at around the same part as u did too. There's a part not long after she's laying in the rain where she randomly wakes up in a strange place from a blackout, & SURPRISE, still has her diary & continues to write. I didn't know it was fake though & am completely bummed to know the truth now even though I expected it before.

Lolz. I can't believe someone posted on this recently.

But anyway, yeah. It's a good book.
I love the beginning and how the story unfolds.

I read this book in 7th grade. I still consider it as the best book I have ever read, just because I got more into it than any other book. I was super pissed when I discovered it was a lie. The woman who wrote it was a middle-aged counselor or something of the sort. That sucks. The book is supposed to scare you from doing drugs and all it made me want to do is do drugs. Haha... jokes on them.

Its hard to say. I read this book when I was 20 and heavily into cocaine. It didn't make me want to quit drugs, and plenty of what happened to her in the novel happened to me in real life.
So like I said, its hard to say whether it is indeed a true story or not.

Go Ask Alice (as well as the rest of the "anonymous diaries") are all bullshit of epic proportions.

Sadly, I am one of those random people who believe this diary is the truth. When exposed to such things you know the girl is not an ordinary 15 year old to begin with. So why would she have ordinary characteristics and predictable actions like every other teen girl? Sadly when I was 15 I was also into drugs and a similar situation. It may be so many years after what happened with "Alice" but in the long run, if it can happen now it can happen then too. On the other end about the government publishing this diary to just scare us away from the drugs is very slim, they do in fact have what they would see as more important things to do than worry about this. Just remember that anything is possible and we have to keep our minds open to all possibilities.:daisy:

Go ask Alice was banned from school librarys here in ND in the 70s. A friend of mine got it at a public library and we passe it around. I bought it used a couple years ago and read it again. Its a good book. I dont know if its true or not, it could have been written as a diary just for style.

The book has long been known not to be an actual diary, but either way it's a great publication. I mean let's forget factual things for a brief moment. Have you ever been a teenage girl? Have you ever at least known any? I nor anyone I knew ever had a diary/journal that document drug use so accurately but skimped out so much on friends, relationships, heck just the general going ons around one's self.

I remember reading it and thinking "man I don't think I wanna do any LSD..." but it was an ok read. I do agree that its propaganda bs though.

  20. Don't mind that it was a hoax. It was an excellent read though, especially since I felt just like her. I was trying new drugs and felt lost. This book helped me feel not as alone, I felt the girls pain.
