My first experience camping with my girlfriend (now wife) was a fiasco. We hiked in to a section of the Long Trail in Vermont. I had to take a leak, so I told her to continue on, and I'd catch up. There was a split in the trail, and I was concerned she'd gone the wrong way, so I yelled and went up the trail a bit, then turned around, figuring she'd got it right. There was another split further up the mountain, one leg of which went to the camp site, the other went to the summit. When I got to the camp site she was no where to be found, so I set up the tent, and went looking for her, but it got dark before I could reach the summit, and I wasn't even sure she was up there, so I had to turn back. The next day I packed it in and headed down, and we hooked up on the trail. She had slept in her sleeping bag on the summit, but she had done OK. Apparently she took the wrong turn at both trail junctions, it was a comedy of errors, each of us looking for the other, yet never really that far apart.

I was impressed with how she kept her head through that. That was when I knew we could make it work for a while, still going strong seven years later.

She uses a female urination device to pee in the woods.

it`s almost a kinda schizo thing w/ camping in general. ok, first of all most people prefer comfort. now, when i say i love camping, this means that i`ve grown to love it so much so that sometimes i feel uncomfortable indoors. & finding a woman who feels the same way is veery difficult. this can`t be explained in just a few words. another thing too, a woman may actually try to keep this from me too thinking that i may like indoors, these things have happened to me before. a bit off-topic & i covered it a bit in my introduction to old hippies. a bit after my dad cut my hair & it hadn`t grown back yet, i had a girlfriend who took me home to meet her parents. she hadn`t got to know me very well yet, & didn`t realize i smoked pot. in one room i was breaking out a pipe, her mother was in another room doing the same thing! then, once when i`d just bought a house, the guy i bought it from spread a rumor i was a yuppie. so, here`s the problem, if met a woman who camps using super-expensive equipment, it would most likely mean she doesn`t camp that much. on the other hand meeting a woman who camps like i do would most likely mean she would be alcoholic, drug addict, promiscious, etc.. so not very often i`ve seen middle grounds in this. camping tends to take a lotta investment in time, energy, $$, etc.. by this i mean do you do you buy lil knick-knacks for a house or fuel for a stove? when i do live indoors i tend to keep it utilitarian & spartan. cuz i`m mostly just sleeping there. or fixing, arranging equipment. sometimes this is easier to do indoors. it`s actually a bit easier to find a woman i prefer in an aquatic environment. i guess because this in some situations can be more comfortable.
