Yeah so did amy and her locks look ace now. I don't think a little wax ruins dreads at all, but I wouldn't ever recommend it.

Then yes I think I would agree,

Mind you, I never met anyone who has used wax for prolongued periods

    EDIT: in response to Vig

yeah, because they have to cut or comb out their dreads. Minimal wax is ok. as much as those sites tell you to use is not.

I think Terry Balsamo from evanescence used/still uses wax regularly. And his locks are tight as hell. Munky from Korn still waxes aswell.

I hadn't heard of saltwater before, but I had a look and that makes sense. Ill stay away from products (aside from res-free soap). Thanks for all the replies.

@vigilante: My teacher still has them and they're healthy and clean. I think lock peppa would probably do nothing more than make dreads appear to be locking, but like you said, in the long run the stuff is probably useless.
    @zilla: no wax. Gotcha
@pat: Korn? Evanescence? Listen to Kalmah, Insomnium or some other real metal. This commercialized nu metal needs to die.

Next question (this thread oughta be "Jason's nooboid dread questions): How often should I be washing my hair at the beggining? Every three days?

its when you mix salt with water

lock peppa gives a nice dandruff affect.. wash your hair when you it feels dirty/greasy/messed up. Clean hair dreads dirty hair clumps.. I wash mine every 3-6 days depending on what I did in the time e.g surf/sport/training

It is now 3 in the morning and I have finally finished these bastards. I kept thinking I was done and then I'd find another section. I'm kind of worried about washing them. Should I wait a few days so they can adjust or just wash them straight out? Anyway, here they are. I look like sideshow Bob

How did I do? Thanks for all the advice!

Btw, Pat, if I offended you Im sorry that wasn't my intention. I noticed through your sigs that you were a hardcore metalhead and I was just messing.

oh and i saw you asked about washing. wash whenever you want. the cleaner your hair is, the more it will lock up. what shampoo do you use? oh, i found it effective to use a stockingto wash through for the first couple of weeks to help them from coming loose.

Yep its TnR. And how do you mean a stocking? Like running it over them or...what? Thanks

Yeah we didn't have plan when we sectioned it. We started out saying 1in by 1in, but it was kinda boring so we just said fuck it. Thats ok. I prefer the bigger ones (dreads, obv)

by a stocking cap i mean buy (or acquire) a pair of women's tights and tie the legs together near the crotch, then cut the legs off below the knot. bam! instant stocking cap. wash your hair through the cap.

*nevermind. luxie thinks it's lame. so, don't do it. unless you are one of those newbs that is worried about their locks "falling out"*
