Getting circumsized need advice...

This is ridiculous. I have no respect for anyone who can't be bothered with self-hygiene, especially genital hygiene.

 

Just my female 2 cents worth. Firstly, babies should not be routinely circumcised as they are obviously denied choice but why are so many uncuts so vehemently against circumcision? Nobody if forcing you to have it done, it's a lifestyle/body mod choice.

Many of the views on this thread seem to be based on an exaggerated perspective of a point. For instance, 1000s of nerves are lost denying pleasure. What? in all cases? You'd think so reading some of the views on here! Well it's a fact that it is possible to have a circ where no sex sensation-specific nerve endings are lost. None. Zilch. 0%. That depends on how the circ is done of course, but a high circ where shaft skin instead of foreskin is removed takes away no nerve endings. None.......

The next myth is that sensitivity is lost and the glans becomes all dried out. No it necessarily isn't . Sensitivity changes but in my man's case it was for the better. He was cut at 40 so we can both give our informed (as opposed to suppose/guess) opinion on how things have improved since.

Of course a circ is not required to stay clean, but it helps. This on its own would be a totally ridiculous reason for having an operation but taken with the other benefits, it's just best regarded as a bonus. Penile cancer is very rare but men circed early in life have a statistically significant reduced risk of contracting it. There must be a reason for that.

So what are the benefits? He says better (although modified) sensations on penetration. Much pleasure is now found from the glans where before sensation from that bit was not particularly pleasurable. The complete (remember none taken away?) inner foreskin in stretched tightly down the shaft now when hard and this is intensely pleasurable for him. Time to orgasm is now slightly (say 20%) longer which a bonus for me as I can take my time, but stimulation is much better from my side of things. It may well suit some couples, but a long foreskin reduced pleasure for me rather than the reported opposite found by others with intact partners. I can feel the glans edge on both directions now and this is good. With careful positioning this become *really* good.

For us it has been win - win. He wouldn't want to return to intact and I wouldn't want him to. The only possible downside is that he is so tightly cut (by request) that masturbation really requires a lube to achieve maximum sensation. However he reports that the sensation with lube is definitely better than jerking foreskin up and down off the glans.

Although I realise this post contradicts the majority of anti-circ feeling on here, it really is 'each to his/her own'. If it's not for you as a couple, fine, but don't knock it until you've tried it. Having said that, it's obvious if you then don't like it there's no going back! The majority who loose a lot of sensation have had low circs (where sensitive inner foreskin is lost) and that is usually avoidable by good and informed surgical technique.

Despite all this, our son is intact so he can make his own choices. That's how it should be. Using words like mutilation really is uninformed oversimplification imo.

PS The subject of female circ is not analogous at all and should be discussed separately. There are good reasons why it is illegal and it most definitely *is* mutilation designed to harm and control. The analogous (to male circ) hood trimming to expose a deeply hidden clit is not what most the vast majority of people mean when referring to female circ.

It seems the primary reason the pro-circumcisionists give is that it is healthier by stopping the development of smegma. In actual fact, the opposite is true - not inasmuch as that it impedes the development of smegma, but that the lack of smegma is healthier.

Smegma may not look especially appealing, but that doesn't mean that it's there for no reason.

don't do it. u lose sensitivity when u do that. It's like removing the hood off the clit. The constant exposure to the air will harden it somewhat. That's why uncut dicks have really pink heads. The US is basically the only country where this still takes place. Most men around the world are uncut. To get it done now is going to involve a LOT of pain as well. We just don't remember the pain when we get it done as infants.
