these little scattered gas boycotts don't do dick-all to bring prices down, and you're foolish if you really expect everyone in hipforums to join you, let alone the fact that our little gang wouldn't make a lick of a difference anyway. you have good intentions, but they're overwrought and immature.

america needs something better than a million little fad gas-diets for the long term; so what if a few americans from hipforums don't buy gas for a week? bob and susan down the road with their 4 suv's will well make up the difference. people aren't necessarily pessimistic; they're just sharp enough to recognize impracticability, and you should take the rose-coloured glasses off, too. we need an entire shift in our way of thinking in n america when it comes to consumption and waste.

hah!!! no I work with economicly disadvantaged kids with special needs and in order to keep them up to grade level and having positive social interactions with line staff I need my car. Sounds like I am a die hard consumeristic republican-no?

 

This is the farthest thing from feasible I have ever seen. For one thing, my job is 45 miles away, one way. I can tell you right now, I wont be walking, riding a bike, horse, or donkey. No one else drives that way that I work with, so carpooling is out. Dude, do you really thing that people can survive without buying gas? Maybe kids and teenagers that dont' have jobs and lives. But otherwise, if you don't live in a city, how the fuck are you supposed to get around. How are you supposed to go to work, or buy food? Have you even thought this whole thing through for more than the 3 minutes it took you to type out that first post?
