Any game that is made almost completely just for multiplayer purposes. Games like those that are just mindless killing and no story are the reason why society still thinks games rot your brain.
Civilization 5 was pretty shit....fun for a little while, until you realised that the the AI couldnt conduct a proper war. One unit of yours could pretty much defeat 5 of theirs if placed properly. Added to that, the multiplayer really sucked too. Other than that, I used to be a WoW player a few years ago, but quit a few months after WOTLK came out....blizzards attempt to please the 'casual' gamer there backfired a little for me.
I'm talking about Call of Duty type games. The story is lacking because all the work was put into making the multiplayer portion of the game.
Halo tops my list. I cant think of any others at the moment. edit:how can I forget madden. Now every once in a blue moon I dont mind playing but then I do and I end up running the same 3 plays the whole game and thats when I remember why I dont play it. People go batshit over this game and I just dont see it as any more than a party game. And never mind buying it because they will have a new one out in less than a year thats pretty much the exact same game with slightly better graphics. I was at a pawn shop a few months ago and they had a bin of old sports games(not to old they were all 360s) for a buck each. Thats about what they are worth.
ya i too was very pissed over oblivion. Also the cod zombie mode everybody loves so much. I fucking hate it. Oh but burnout paradise easily takes the cake. There is no game i hate more. The makers practically took a piss on the series. They did that thing you guys are talking about and made it mass appeal for the noobs.
i can take or leave the madden gameplay, but i do enjoy the team management aspect of it. love it when one of my draft picks ends up growing into a pro bowler. but yeah, i get bored as shit as the season drags on and all i'm doing is playing games. the end of your post is one of the best parts of it. i buy a new version about once every 5 years, and i never pay more than $5 for it because i just buy the previous year's version.
Skyward Sword pissed me off.. was hoping to play a game.. instead every 5min I was watching a 5-10min cut scene.. shit was super annoying.. especially for a game system that doesn't have great graphics.. sold the game 2 days later
That's too bad, it seems fun. If i had that game system I'd probably bought it too (and might be dissappointed.. Ocarina of time is actually the only game I really played of the Zelda games).
Gears of War. You move like you're in quick sand. How is that fun? Metal Gear Solid 2 -- same thing only with more tedious gameplay -- haven't played any others because that was one of the worst gaming experiences of my life. Madden. Though it's been improving in recent years; it's always had extremely dry game play, and EA sports killed it's best competitor after just one year of life. RIP ESPN Football. Gran Turismo -- all the racing you can handle; none of the excitement! I'm beginning to see a pattern here..
A Link To The Past(snes) is probably one of the best Zelda games of all time imho.. Ocarina is really good too.. and then there is The Legend Of Zelda.. the king of them all.. Zelda II: The Adventures of Link I didn't care for.. and never got the chance to play any of the GC Zeldas... Majoras Mask was meh
yeah, zelda II is the kind of game that has to be played on an emulator, and saved after every fight. it's alright if you use that method though.
I have always hated COD... I never been a fan of first person games, i would much rather play a third person game with a story line i get emotionally attached to. I think the worst part of COD is the fans ahaha
I was thinking gears but i wasnt expecting much from it so it wasnt a huge dissapointment but it is the worst popular fps. But a game i dont mind is that super mario world but people were saying its their game of the year and i thought it was meh.
I hate Final Fantasy's 8 and 10 with a venomous passion. That's gotten me into a few fights with some friends.
eh, those both get a lot of hate. i actually thought i was the only one who did enjoy 8. 10 was fun too, but even if it wasn't, the awesomeness of blitzball would have redeemed it somewhat.
The Blitzball thing is the one defense that all of my friends give that game. Honestly, I do understand the appeal of that part, even if I didn't like it at all. I hated the characters, the story and the setting. I did think that 10's battle system was one of the best I've ever seen in a JRPG. I just wish it was in a game with a better story.
ok, i actually do agree there. the characters were annoying, and the story was just ok, but i liked the battle system enough to look past those issues.
