well, what a game....moving back to Boston and yea, after Beckett's performance, he better be getting the Cy Young award
Becket has given the Sox a chance and has halted the Indian's momentum for at least one game. Perhaps the change in venue and a day's rest will help Schilling tomorrow. Manny is really pissing me off... admiring a fly ball he thinks is going to be a homer and only gets first base when it bounces in play. Manny being Manny-- fuck that noise... It's Fancona's job to put a positive spin on things but Manny's attitude is crystal clear here.. who cares if the Sox win... there's always next year. With an attitude like that next year would be much better without that attitude and fat salary. I don't care how well he hits- it appears that he'll turn off his productivity at will- even in the midst of the post season when his team's season is on the line. I say get rid of him and good fucking riddance... don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!
Oh, what a game and oh, what a coincidence that Beckett’s former girlfriend Danielle Peck just happened to be chosen to sing the national anthem Hotwater
No doubt Do you think Curt Schilling is going to take it upon himself on saturday night to brush-back Lofton, and will it clear the benches H
I enjoyed the game for sure. I'm currently watching ESPN- Joe Torre is holding a press conference after turning down the Yankees rather disingenuous offer and am thinking about a manager's role in blending the various personalities and egos into a cohesive unit... I expect the next few years will be a stormy period for New York; something that will certainly not disappoint me. It seems that the Yankees kinda painted themselves in a corner when George Steinbrenner gave the win or walk ultimatum. Oh, the politics of baseball... especially in the media fish bowl of NYC... The fact that he turned down a one year, five million dollar offer is beside the point- it seems that it was the manner in which the offer was made. It certainly seems that the intent was to be rid of Torre without making the unpopular move of firing him. The disrespect that seems reflected in the move hasn't changed the manner in which Torre is handling himself... he's going out with class. It's a damned shame for Yankees fans because it's his personality and stabilizing influence that helped manage the cauldron of high priced egos. I'm reflecting on something Ryan posted about him managing the Cardinals and maybe he's right. Torre is best suited to be in a big market and filtering what can be an uncomfortable white hot spotlight and allowing baseball players do what they are paid to.
we'll see how the yankees team turns out next season with some of the big name players up for free agency who stand behind Torre... interesting for sure
Joe Torre has a number of options and while you're right he is a big market manager, I wouldn't necessarily call St Louis a big market team. I know the fans in St. Louis are ravenous and obsessed, but big market? no Hotwater
Well- I'll agree he's a fierce competitor.... and if he was on my team I'd be all over his act... it certainly outshines ManRam and his mailing in an effort. Give left field to Jacoby Ellsbury.
I didn't say they were... I was agreeing with Ryan. I can see him somewhere on the west coast... or maybe the Mets! I wonder if by revealing Brian Cashman's support for him en route to the "offer" Torre is trying to make the GM available via firing to run another team with him as manager.
The Sargasso Sea Slug is probably still pissed off over last nights Red Sox Romp Hotwater (a former million man march attendee) h
nah, I'm not pissed off, I had lots of fun at the game It does kind of piss me off that you would essentially want to kill Kenny Lofton because he is black you guys can't win, if the Red Sox take the series I will make fun of you for cheering a team with an extremely bloated payroll and little homegrown talent, all free agents. If they lose I will make fun of you for liking a team with a bloated salary and little homegrown talent that lost
Meh- win or lose it's all the same. Now, let me see... of the hits, runs, and plays how many did I personally participate in? None If the Sox win, how much will my personal bank account benefit? None Has any of my moral support for the team influenced the outcome of even one game? No So- it's all about the accomplishments of complete strangers. The sport itself is increasingly entertainment for the very rich and it's teams like the Yankees and my very own (?- I know, I don't own 'em) Red Sox that have effectively driven up the market where the asking price of a decent player to where the price of a seat is out of range of most working stiffs. This is true to the plutocratic leanings of our system which has pushed the cost of what used to be considered basics to the point where too many regular folks are doomed to throwing their hard earned money into renting and like in baseball, the rich just keep getting richer. Truly it is America's pastime. Over the past couple days I've watched the Yankees fuck themselves so you'll have something else to fuel your belly laugh.
what do tickets cost at Fenway? My ticket was 45 dollars including fees last night, but that was a playoff game. I think it would have been less than 20 during the regular season I like your style stinkfoot
