yeah that should read ... hold onto it on the offchance that someone else might offer to hold onto it for me p:
One advantage of car ownership: ease of access to dark country laybys. But that's only for proper pimp-my-ride shaggin' wagons. Smart cars barely have room for a hand shandy.
i have a company car... i need it to attend site visits I work long hours... I need to save all the time I can before you ask what I do in my spare time, check out the parties and protests forum and that should give you an idea of why my time is so valuable... also to be fair, why my time relaxing is so valuable too... to be any use to anyone, be it work, causes, friends, people that rely on you.... you need as much time as possible. I could do with 48 hour days
Wow, do you solve mysteries in it? I'll give you a hint that'll save you loads of work hours: tomorrow, it'll be the owner of the amusement park in a rubber mask.
i love being polite and courteous when driving. no-one ever expects it from a white ford transit driver! i drive everywhere and rarely use public transport atall. towing a caravan on a train just wouldnt be practical. i've had a guilty conscience once or twice about owning a vehicle, but decided i didnt feel that guilty after all. i cant think, of a good reason to justify it right now but im sure when im more awake i might come up with one. taxing us out of existance is probably not the greatest plan. everyone will still drive their cars, they'll just be even moodier about it. i agree with claire on this one. fuel alternatives is the best way to go. my van is diesel and i want to try it on cooking oil and methanol but am a little wary coz i love my van lots and dont want to risk fucking up the engine. i might tyr it if i had all the information and the exact right mixture of ingreidients though. peace and love stardust xxx
All alternative fuels need to be declared and are still taxable, even if you make them in your kitchen ... I'm thinking about an LPG conversion, but it's a lot of money to fork out and I need to find room for the extra tank.
I think if the government listened more to the needs of our valuable environment and less to the needs of big business, alternative eco fuel options would be way more available. No one wants to damage the environment (do they? :& ) I just think we aren't being given the alternatives the true market demands.
Not really. There simply aren't currently any viable large-scale, eco-friendly alternatives to oil. Unless you subscribe to the theory that governments/oil companies are suppressing alternative technologies. Which isn't entirely implausible. The other problem that you need to conisder is that regardless of whether your vehicle is non-polluting, it still requires a road. If we carry on inreasing the rate of care ownership, we'll have no countryside left to speak of. The real solution would be to increase the availabilty of affordable public transport and to change our society in such a way that we're more community-focused with less need to travel.
Good point... I guess without looking fully into the alternatives we'll never know for sure. yes, I think better public transport is totally the way forward. As it stands public transport does not meet the needs of many people though, as I detailed before.
I'm constantly amazed that governments aren't funding cold fusion research to the tune of billions. I't about the only vaguely viable alternative to oil that could possibly be developed in time to avoid disaster when the wells run dry. And that's assuming cold fusion is even possible. But it's our best shot and it's really about time we started throwing some serious money at it. Or it's back to Bedrock
