I still hope he explains what he ment with that statement. I don't understand why he would project Hitlers evil deeds on christianity as if that is responsible or as if Hitler did it because he was a catholic... but maybe I'm missing something (so Shale let's hear it) :p

Islam has two big problems: The idea (which I have heard MANY muslims say) that it would be better, and I quote, for every single muslim in the world to be killed, than to insult the prophet one time, because of "how much they love him". And two: there is no reform movement in islam. ISIS is run by people with PhDs in Islam. The moderate muslims struggle to justify their moderation in scripture, whereas the extremists exist because of it.

We are what is put into us. All of our experiences, external and internal. What comes out of us is based on what we are at any given point in time.

If I have been taught that all people are not equal, all opinions are not equal, or all beliefs are not equal, then I'm going to have to have experiences (including but not limited to direct experience, teaching from others, associations that I make while thinking -that are based on my experiences) that demonstrate that is not truen before I can begin to change my way of thinking.

    Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Listen I don't disagree that there are powerful groups benefiting from this (the arms industry for one) but you have to understand that in a multi-layered situation like this, it's not always possible for one layer to dismiss the others; what I mean is, one on level, this really is about how Islam is a fucked up religion that teaches people killing to defend a historical figures' honor is a noble thing to do.

For a part only. We are definitely partly what is put into us but what we really are is what we do with that. After all, not everyone by far that gets the same input is being, doing or thinking the same ;)

No we are not only a subject to programing from outside. Programing is constantly re-enforced otherwise it would wear off with experience to the contrary. Thoughts and behaviors all have a half life. that is if you don't constantly and consciously cultivate them they fall into disuse and fade back into history until that innovation comes back round again.

I agree to a point, but no one gets exactly the same input, or has exactly the same machinery to process it. Not even identical twins.

We all travel different lines of sentient experience. I think I got that from Steven Pinker - I can't remember. I'd look it up, but I'm running the risk of being late to watch a basketball game with my mom, as it is.

I don't agree or disagree. I'm still investigating that for myself.

All inclinations are arrayed spectrally. The inclination in this case is for one, that right is on your side and number two it takes violence to uphold it. This is the fundamental behind the behaviors on both sides not their particular ideologies. Everyone involved is coming from and operating with the same perspective not opposing ones. They all regard this as proper functioning. The logical description of what we see however points to a glaring error. If it is right it doesn't need to be defended. Might is not right, someone bigger always comes along.

There is never a reform movement that stays reformed for long. The moment things get institutionalized then the insanity begins. Disease dies out in the heart and mind of a well man. None of this is about idealogies or lifestyles or higher ideals. It all reflects a lack of personal recognisance which is why the real innovator is considered heretical to the establishment. See the establishment relies on rule of law to commit it's crimes.

What you talk about here as far as sentiment is very substantial in it's it's effects however the way way it is construed is projected instead of assumed. I feel exactly the same way as they but my position is that my life is not worth living if i can't establish peace and joy in and around me.

RIGHT ON SHALE ! ! ! Keep on telling it like it is. I also am fed up with all the oppologists of this UGLY and dangerous religion. I am an atheist and do not believe in any of this crap. But these moslems are by far the worst. A cult devoted to killing anyone who does not believe in their brand of nonsense. Yah, there is this old desert god who seems to hate EVERYBODY for the most ridiculous reasons. Kill the jihadis . They are WORSE than NAZIS` were. There is no making peace with these assholes. They want war and let the rest of us give them one that puts an end to them. There is a time to fight. Now is that time.

So we should be subject to your frustrated cause? If you had a solution for yourself you wouldn't be frustrated and tired of this that and the other thing. I'm tired of people saying it is the other guys fault for their take on the world. You are not justified in your complaint is the reason you are not fulfilled as living creature.

You do realize that you are NOT allowed to personally attack members on this site (which you continue to do here).

I am NOT the subject of this thread, yet I seem to be the subject of all your responses to me.

You can bash a belief system, but not our members.

    Got it now?

On the subject of bashing belief systems, if Islam is so great, why don't they compare themselves to other religions and explain how theirs is superior.

Why don't the Sunnis and Shiites just have a game show on TV where they can compete to prove whose religion is superior.

The winner can face off against the Christian, Jewish and Buddhist winners just like football.

The ultimate winner takes all, without any bloodshed.

First of all Pol Pot and Stalin killed no one, that I know of, in the name of Atheism. Atheism is not a belief system, it is a denial of certain belief systems. They killed for political reasons.
There is much debate about Hitler's religious standing.
He was never excommunicated prior to his suicide.

But we have gone over all that before.

Second, I don't think the U.S. is the biggest terrorist organization in the world, as someone said.

Third, religion does have a place. I, myself, have little need for an organized religion, but many do.
Religion in general has committed great and small atrocities in its name. But it also is a valuable social outlet, moral guide, means of spiritual advancement, and a great comfort and aid to many.

Just because certain members of certain groups commit horrendous acts in the name of those groups, that does not mean that all members hold the same moral standards. Especially if they profess and act in ways other than the perpetrators of those acts.

Living in a free society, we have no right to rail against Islam as long as there are those Muslims who deplore these acts of violence and live peaceful, spiritual lives.
There are reports that the police officer who was executed on the sidewalk in Paris was himself a Muslim.

Let's not fall into the trap of condemning an entire group for the actions of a segment of that group.

It's understandable to be scared and smart to be cautious but it is unfortunate that you sound like an extremist nutcase yourself by convicting every muslim all to be devoted to killing. This is obviously not telling it how it actually is.
You understand that the people in this thread that are defending muslims in general do not defend the muslims who kill or oppress for their religion right? So you are probably fed up with these people that tell you how it is because you don't like how it is. You rather paint with your broad brush because that way you feel you can oversee the situation and see a solution. Comforting I guess. Just like people with religious faith are accused often of seeking comfort in fiction ;)
