Yes anyone can say they are inspired by God... but how many have proof? The Bible does, but few choose to look for it. But rather go with the popular delusion that the Bible is flawed and no longer relevant for today.

Overall, the OT demonstrates that people cannot be saved by works alone. They need a sacrifice to take up their inquities. Back then it had to be a PERFECT animal without defect(Exudus 12:5).

During the time of Passover God told the people to put blood of a perfect animal on their doorway and they would be saved and the people had the CHOICE to do so.

Likewise today, God tells us through the Bible to accept Jesus (a perfect person) and be saved. And people still today have the CHOICE to accept or reject God but in the form of Jesus--the ultimate/final sacrifice. Sadly, when Jesus knocks on many people's hearts, few CHOOSE to accept His blood and so be saved.

God said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, "The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt." (Exodus 12:13)

Yeah but how is the bible proof? or how does the bible contain proof?

And why would a god want to just murder masses of children... shouldnt he just go for the truly wicked?

But then he wants you to take goat blood and put it on the door... sounds rather nasty but still only those who slaughter a goat and put its blood on a door gets to keep their first born... wow

Monolith first off you being proud of me is nice. God bless you. Second off not once have we spoke about the comparisons between our faiths. It's obvious that I'm a Christian. Your faith which is beyond reproach is what?

Well I have never taken drugs, and from my earliest age tried to keep my mind clear of such things. I recall another time when I was coming home from work and thanking God for giving me my life, when He spoke to my mind again, this time He told me my wife was going to have a child. I told Him that having another child was not even thought about by my wife and I, but I thanked Him for the child He was sending us. When I got home, I found my wife asleep, and I just leaned against the door and said to myself, my poor wife, she is pregnant and does not even no it. I then went to bed only to waken up about four house latter, at which time I found my wife throwing up in the bathroom. It was her first indication that she was pregnant. Hear again, God told me we were going to have a child fours before my wife even knew it. Over the years I have found the more you open up to God, the more He opens up to you. And I have also found the more you deny and ignore God, the more you distiance your self from His truth.

If Jesus was here right now he would be shredding through 'his' churches--paper tigers built on man-made doctrines and statements of faith, all claiming that they are the true denomination. Considering that, i do actually agree with the original thread poster's bash on Christianity. It is in every sense a very messy religion.

The Old Testament of the christian bible is not meant to show that works cannot get you saved. It is rather the history of the Jewish people. Within their history--their tradition of storytelling much like most ancient cultures--existed the belief of a 'chosen one' bringing rescue and salvation. Moses' unique birth story leads to his rescue of the Jews from the hands of their oppressors. The OT is in every sense the tradition and history of the Judaism, which is also the vehicle Jesus Christ arrived in. If Christ's crucifixion tore the veil in two then the OT was destroyed. It (the veil) is a representation of the OT scriptures...everything that was written before Christ. Indeed Christ is the new covenant.

I love Jesus. He is in every sense the greatest person in my life and he is probably the most famous person to have ever walked he earth. Considering that he did so 2000 years ago and still has everyone talking about him I believe fully that he 'is' God.

I also believe that the devil is my biological father and in many ways he has negatviely influenced christianity as the atypical perverted stepfather would.

The Bible tells us to wait upon the Lord. I was abused in a religious school back in 1956. I came close to a break down. I could not get over how these religious people were so cruel. Yet years later I discovered the real Christ. I don't no why I had to go through what I did. Yet I thank God for my life today, and I no that religious people killed the Son of God on the cross. God is always there even if we don't see Him. The world we live in is an evil place and the Bible tells us it will only get worse. The question is, will we add to the misery? Or will we tell people about a God who changes hearts and lives. Will we tell the world that there is a God who offers to light the path, that otherwise only leads to darkness. Jesus said if men hate you, remember, they hated me first.

"The Old Testament of the christian bible is not meant to show that works cannot get you saved."

Because we know how often the Jews pleased God with their works...

It was failure after failure... Yet God always forgave them and took them back.

And even made a new coveinent, and predicted that this Messiah of the New Coveinent would the the light of the gentiles.

So our good works, our religion, our baptism, our confirmation, our philosophy, nor our church membership can't get us into heaven. There is only ONE remedy for the problem of Sin and Separation...Jesus.

Here is the joke about what you just said: heaven. This 'place' is completely hypothetical yet I'm sure you have some idea of what it is, or what you want it to be. One thing is for sure, don't personify it. When the flesh dies, all humaness goes with it. The NT says 'glorified' bodies. Revelation says that everyone will be surrounding the lamb of God singing endless praise for eternity and that will be 'heaven'. And the MAIN problem you fail to recognize is that Jesus doesn't want people to be focused on heaven, but rather on doing his work on the earth. What is faith without works?

Here's my next question for you JesusDied4U. You say Jesus is the only remedy, yes? Well Christ died on the cross 2000 years ago. If he is the only way to 'heaven' what about everyone who never got the chance to hear about him. I mean it is safe to say that the first 1000 years the info wasn't really spread too far. Sucks to be alotta folk I guess. You comment about 'few answer his knock' but there are tribesman in Africa who at this present moment have never heard of Christ even as we are in the year 2006?

Actually, JD4U, God's actions in the world are proof of God's love. The bible may be a decent description of these actions to someone who has experienced God's love, but it is not proof.

I was listening to the radio this morning and the DJ was talking about how Isaac Hayes quit South Park because of its "views" on religion. A Catholic called in and said the guy has no sense of humor because Isaac only quit South Park when it joked about his religion (Scientology), which is one of the most hilarious religions out there. The Catholic then talked about how silly his own religion is because he will go to hell if he eats a hamburger on Friday. He appreciates the humor in his own religion, while Isaac Hayes does not.

God puts jokes in everything, but sometimes people take them the wrong way because of a false pride.

True, how can we have faith in God if we do not follow what he says. In regards to heaven... heaven is just a possible end result of what we do here on earth. And no matter how many times we attend church or how many good deeds we do... it will not get us into heaven, but rather a relationship with Christ is the only key. To enter heaven you must know the Jesus.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Oh, I haven't heard this one before... For those who are trully seeking the true God no matter where they are located... God finds a way to reveal Himself.
