Ya, going without a fridge seems silly, just risking damage to foods that are vegetables from freezing from the temp not being regulatable as much. I am too lazy to deal with Ice and after living out of a cooler for a few days at a time I am all set. I think the energy star stuff is the way to go. No need to go Amish, just conserve. We can have our cake and eat it too. There are companies that will supply the solar cells and you still pay the electric bill just your power is from a renewable source. Ecoquest is finally releasing Wind tree, a personal roof mounting or free-standing windmill. Now my thought would be they should design a motor that takes less energy to spin the propeller than the generator creates on a single rotation, then they would essentially have a source of energy that not only provides for us but is self sustaining. Or have a separate solar cell running the motor, then even on days with no wind you are still producing, just less. I figure with all we know about gearing it shouldn't be too hard. It isn't like the less you have the better person you are. We all have a purpose though and if that is yours than more power to ya. The wife and I have been going green for a while but have a long way to go.
