You honestly should have read my above post.

You are among the many who misunderstand freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech only means that you have the freedom to state whatever you want. It does not mean you are exempt from the consequences of stating whatever you want.

Sounds like doublespeak quite honestly, taken right out of Orwell's 1984.

This forum respects freedom of speech, but it also understands that you can get temporarily or permanently banned for stating what you do, especially if what you state is considered hate speech.

Doublespeak? Take it up with those who make the rules.

Personally, I do not see it that way whatsoever.

What is considered "hate speech" by one person might not necessarily be considered hate speech by someone else. It seems like the term "hate speech" could be used as a convenient way to squelch anything those in power don't want people talking about, so I have a problem anytime the government wants to regulate what people can and cannot say. Like I said, it sets a dangerous precedent. True freedom is the freedom to say things that might offend someone. Only in the politically correct nanny state we're living in do people so easily get offended over simple words to the point they allow if not outright demand the government step in and do something about it because THEY don't agree with it.

    Don't give me that bullshit.

Hate speech, when it is hate speech, is obvious in its conotation. Hate speech is used to hate upon someone else because the one doing the hating has misconceived ideas that only his hateful viewpoint is valid.

That's why it depends on the details and when a person is accused of such a thing as hate speeching does not get thrown in jail right away but we have people to look at it carefully. If it is really hate speeching it will become clear. If it would happen that your country has a system that puts dubious people in place to look at and convict hate speechers' cases then that would be the problem, not the fact on itself that there are consequences on actual hate speeching.

Slander is not a criminal offense in the United States. It's a civil issue handled in civil court.

And some of you think it should be a criminal offense to question the "official" history of the holocaust? Really? I question the "official" version of damn near everything that I am told is "official" because I find that those people are the ones who are the most full of bullshit. What would be next? It can be a crime if we don't accept the official reason for going to war in Iraq? Why not? The precedent would already be set. There is no reason we can't include all sorts of other things on the list of "official" things that we aren't allowed to question. What could go wrong?

I think the official history of the holocaust changes every year when statistics don't add up.

No, you are absolutely right, though six million seems to be the frequently regurgitated number by most.

From what I understand, the Germans kept meticulate records and that is from whence the numbers came.

Free speech, hate speech and violations of free speech .. violations of speech are not free speech.

That childhood game of "sticks and stones... " is not scientifically correct. In fact, name calling can mangle a person.

Violations make people violent. Violent people violate and violated people become violent. Vicious, wicked violent, vicious cycle.

People are softer than ever before. Being picked on never used to be a big deal until recently. If the nanny state progresses, and it will, it will be ensured that everyone is without a backbone.

I'm running away because I said something that could put me in jail. =p
That is question the holocaust which is gospel, see. The holocaust is almost a religion in its own merit and a dangerous one too. It teaches you to completely disregard ones own self, your values, beliefs and opinions and beats you into submission that you must agree with or else possible jail time. Even if your grandparents were high ranking officers with a much clearer understanding of events. This is also something no one wats to hear. The SS are always the bad guys in most cases. In popular belief they mopped up Russian POWs and Ruski Juden after every town they marched through on the journey east. What popular beliefs don't mention is that the liberated Estonian, Lithuanian and Latvian population voluntarily enlisted themselves to the Waffen SS based almost solely on the fact that they could murder the Ruski POWs and Jews in cold blood. Even after the war these bands continued fighting the Ruski well into the 50s.

But for another culture of people to accused of such wrong doings is blasphemy.

    Einsatzgruppen, more most think.

To throw popular racial theories about the SS also out the window, Muslims were also enlisted, Greeks and Mediterranean forces also enlisted. The "Aryan" belief of the German Army was not true, and neither are a lot of the horror stories about Germans. Fact is Russia has a lot of enemies and they were too happy to help and finish what was started.

I think people are re-learning the value of speaking with honor and respect, driven by the known detriment of verbal assault. We can be upright without having to resort to below the belt mentality.
