so are you trying to argue that secularism is not atheist? Then in the same sentence talking about the separation of church and state?

Secularism even if it were not intended to be religious becomes religious once it is used as a moral compass to force someone to its agenda.

so your reasoning then is that you can make moral determinations of right and wrong [which by the core definition is the basis of all religion] without it being a religion?

That doesnt sound like a pure contradiction in terms to you?

For the most part religion is about politics and "us vs. them".

I'm claiming anything. Religion is evil because it sells lies to people.

    but there is no defense.

they are claiming not to be religious while making religious based claims! Many people would consider that irrational.

So how can an atheist be 'moral' without simultaneously falling under the definition of religion or are they trying to change the definition to mean something it was never intended to mean? That would be subterfuge would it not?

  6. I don't think people equate being religious with having a sense of morality. Usually (always) religions believe in some kind of God. If you don't believe in God, you're not religious simply because you have empathy for others. You're wrong to strip religion down to simply being a matter of acknowledging the existence of good and evil.

It becomes political when atheists want to force their morality or immorality for that matter on other people as they have using the legal system and commerce as their vehicle.

So atheists consider murder = bad is a lie?

I'm an atheist, but I'm not aware of any global atheist agenda. What is it?

You are not following the point. I used words that have specific meanings that you are not restating in the same context. I did not strip it down as described in your restatement, your understanding stripped it down.

I suppose God could be used as generic means to describe what philosophers would label transcendence by those who have other interests than philosophy theology metaphysics etc.

    yes, i can.

right and wrong are not by definition core basis of religion. every person can observe the world and can come to a conclusion what is right and what is wrong. they don't need any religion for that.

    answer these questions:

the church tortured and burned homosexual men in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance. was that right? it was the church, the church thought it was right --- was that the moral right? killing men for loving other men, was that right? answer this question.

the church thinks prohibition of abortion is right. is it?

The kliens religion was destroyed via the atheist legal vehicle which forced their religious moral views upon the kliens and destroyed them using that same religious legal vehicle.

another erroneous out of context restatement which departs from the intended meaning.

Its much more beneficial to post the full quote rather than restate things to insure the correct context is maintained.

Since I just said it in response to someones previous post I assume this was a crosspost?

  16. So you're not saying that atheists are religious because they believe in morality?

And now you want to redefine God into something vague enough that we all must actually be religious? Hey, maybe God is the same thing as good, and since we all believe in good, we all believe in God. Gee, you're right. We're all religious! Now what?

I suggest you now denounce atheists for not being truly religious because they don't believe in intelligent design.

I dont see your definition, or supporting philosophy etc, so thats your opinion I gather? and of course you have a right to your opinion but it does not further your argument.

So you made a religious determination that the churchs religious determinations were wrong and people are supposed to believe that moral proclamations of atheism is not a religion?

Atheism on the other hand promotes abortion. On what moral basis?

Boo-fucking-hoo!! Nobody is forcing anything on you. Get real! I'm so sick of you fucking crybabies going on and on about how persecuted you are and how much you are constantly under attack for your beliefs. Hews flash: We don't give a shit what you believe. We really don't. You can believe in invisible flying frogs for all I care but when your deeply held beliefs in invisible flying frogs start to negatively impact my life....we have a problem. And that is where religious people are confused about exactly what persecution is. Me not allowing your beliefs to negatively impact my life is not you being persecuted.

    And....hail Satan!

Well can you give me a precise definition of God that you claim does not exist?

I presume when you say "atheists are religious because they believe in morality" that your intended meaning is that they act upon that morality and want that morality to be acted upon in the same manner by those of other religions?

I reject your suggestion since its not my argument.
