its not about what is stolen from society its about gathering together once and a while to show the minds and the arts of the human mind see it all over the place tv awards people getting rewards for different things that they do in life and thats probably why we have more colorful dance dresses for dancing at a pow wow instaed of the traditional dresses we use to use but we still keep this dress code in there allong with more advanced dancing to going back towards the old dance styles just like some animal;s gather together to eat together and stuff like that and humans gather together with there minds advancement on the thought of working together
bro, i will definatly join your tribe. in 2 years when im 18 ive had the same idea for quite some time now
but where would we go. who would legally let us live on their land. i think i would have to be privatly owned. we could probably find a cool landowner who will let us
you can get cheap land in NV but there are so many places I saw where nobody would even know you were there I was going to buy some but got to thinking how I would get the 300 a month to pay the payments the thought was to pay the down and 3 months payments or so and without having my kids now thinking of doing some more wandering first but if enough ppl wanted to might still do it I'm not sure I've always had kids tagging along now their gone I could go live in a cave or go from place to place again I dont know what to do this is the first time since I was 15 with nothing tyeing me down time for fun but I still like NV lots of caves and mines to explore we made 3 trips coast to coast with the kids now for the grown up tour

It is the simplest thing in the world to do something... you just start doing it... It may not succeed, but it's guaranteed to not be a success if you don't even bother trying. All these people... "I want to get away from society and live by the sweat of my brow and the knowledge in my head and live for myself".... just as soon as someone holds my hand and drags me along... You know how the hippie movement came about? You know how the communes that started up all over the place began? You know how woodstock came about? Because people got tired of waiting for someone else to do something to change things, and they took action... They joined in protests, communes, militant groups and every other form of 'rebellion against the system' they could find... Is that hard to grasp?? They took action... They stopped saying 'someone should do this' and they did it... They stopped saying, one day, in the future, I'll do that... and they DID it.. All over these boards (and other places on the net), you will find dozens and dozens of people who took action and bought (or otherwise aqquired) land and they started... and they all offer a place to anyone who will work along side of them. There is every conceivable concept that they are based on, from militant extremists, to religious based cults to all encompassing love, to simply living green or being organic. You know what though? Most of them sit at home with their family and do the work themselves... when someone does actually show up, they generally expect everything handed to them and never last long. It is really interesting that the ones that are based on leaders/followers (ie, religious cults), get more people that actually show up then any other style of community. Speaking of communities that are inviting people, here's another one that just posted as I was typing this... I wish the best of luck to all who are DOING at HeartSong.
i totally agree chronic tom, my partner and I are somewhat "doing it" We bought an old farm house way out in the woods, grow our own food (not all though...working on it) make our own soaps and shampoos, laundry detergent etc. bake our own breads etc, saving up for solar panals to be completely off grid. We are not there 100% but we are on our way and trying hard!
Yea', I should have started looking prior to 07' while I still had some cash saved. Just seems all the ones in the warmer climates seem to require a buy-in from what I've found at IC.org. Of course I haven't done any serious digging over there in about a year,,, I'll find something eventually.
Well, I'll tell you... I've tossed around a lot of thoughts about the issue of buy ins, membership fees and so on... To me, I think they are just about the worst idea in the world... Yes, those of us who go out and start, usually end up spending a ton of cash to do so, and yes, it would be nice to get it back in that way... But, you have to look at other issues besides just the cash balance... If by some chance, the place lasts for 100 years, is a new person supposed to come in and pay an equal amount (by share) to what has been spent so far? What about if the person wants to leave? Are you going to give the fee back to them? Maybe only if they were only there for a week? Maybe you wait 6 months before getting it? What happens if the community doesnt have the money to 'buy you back out'? What happens if the community wants the person out? Same issues as above, with the added complications of them having legal standing to make a claim to the property. Especially hard to deal with if you have already spent their fees.... Personally, I would never go to a place that said there was a cash buy in... and we would never accept a cash offer from someone else to 'buy in' here. If someone is willing to come and work alongside us, GREAT... If someone wants to come, live here and get a job, they can do that too, but they will have to put most of what they earn towards the community... After all, there are no bills for them to pay to live or eat... Why you ask?? Because we put pretty much 100% of everything we have into it... minus a bit for personal stuff... So in no way do we feel it is unreasonable to ask that the people who are sharing in our life, share in the whole part of it. Those who get a job, would obviously work less around the property then those here all the time, but the cash they would bring in would equal it out. Assuming they don't think that the cash is their only contribution of course. As for the whole warmer climate... I keep telling you fritz... it aint that cold here... lol
Yea, not too different than where I spent most my life in Chicago,,, just have to dress for it etc. Spent a few winters taking tourists on a horse and carriage along the inner drive of lake shore drive,,, Hmmm.... Still, long way between where I'm at now and the $$ for the heavy Carhartt winter gear,,, I think maybe most of my aversion to the cold comes from my rushing out the door before properly dressing for it.
I've had those moments... a few weeks ago (during the cold snap), we had a small chimney fire, and after shutting down the stove, I had to go make sure it snuffed the flames... so I ran outside in nothing but my housecoat... don't do that....
Sounds like a good reason to add a top fed sprinkler system. Ya' could build it in to work like a coffee percolator.
