Nope. I think they made a big deal of it too. I think he was sick awhile, but instead of getting better he died. I guess they were trying to teach kids about death.

Most likely, the guy who played the voice quit or died and they couldn't replace him.

Haha, it's cool. I'm just a little neurotic about my childhood icons is all... Like when Elmer Fudd finally got Bugs Bunny in that one episode of Family Guy, I got on Youtube and watched old Looney Tunes, thinking to myself, "he isn't dead... see? look, there he is... he's fine..."
