mine just formed up without any encouragement and alot of them, maybe all flattened out a bit, they sort of fold up back in on themselves, they doo all kidns of crazy shit and remind me of seaweed, but i feel ya on the free flowing i simply periodically rip them apart near the roots to keep them growing individually, and have a range a semi fat ones to little bitty ones i kinduh like them although its not esthetically pleasing like all these mo fo's with the perfectly formed dreadies, but it has a sortuh natural mystic power, i dunno, ive heard it cane take 1.5-2 years for dreads like this too finish, there are gianing some length, my hair was really long before it decided to dread up, then i couldnt even tie it for awhile, but now i just let it hang loose, and i rpefer it dreaded, as its much eaiser to manage in terms of keeping out of my eyes
