Congrats! That's making some gains. I don't swim very much but I wish I did. I want to do a triathalon some time but I'm a little worried about the swim leg....much like a lot of other people.

Pilates is pretty challenging. And very painful when you first start out lol, I started doing pilates as my post pregnancy work out when my ab muscles were basically non existent and it really hurt at first.

Judging by your posts in the past, you seem to spend a lot of time on arm exercises. Many guys tend to get preoccupied with arm muscle. I think you were the one who said you were disappointed about the shape of your mid section. Maybe some pilates or yoga to firm the abdomen area would be useful. Exercise of that area is certainly an option in addition to trying to find a particular diet to reduce abdomen fat.

    Hello,

if I were disappointed about the shape of my mid section I would gulp down another bowl of chocolate chip ice cream ;).

Not sure I ever said I was "disappointed" with my midsection. Getting down to a certain body fat percentage takes time. Perhaps that is what I was referring to. In that case, it has everything to do with diet, and therefore is a work in progress since I follow a strict ketogenic diet, which is perhaps that best diet for getting lean while building muscle. I don't do pilates or yoga, nor am I interested in either. I do plenty of situps and crunches, however.

Doesn't look like most of the thread made the voyage.

I was back in the gym again tonight doing my day 1 chest workout. It feels great to be back. I feel like I'm mentally back into my normal routine. I wasn't planning on returning to circuit training just yet but I bumped into a friend in the weight room this evening who asked me if I was going tomorrow night. If I'm going to expect myself to be back in my normal routine....circuit training twice a week is part of that routine. So I guess I'm going to get my ass kicked tomorrow night. :)

can i do a lack-of-fitness bump? i was doing a great job of keeping up with my exercise until probably about the end of june. since then, i just haven't had time to do anything. i was in a beach volleyball tournament on saturday (which my team won, by the way) and about half of my muscles are still sore from it. i definitely didn't move enough to justify that.

Congratulations. I always admired those who exercise and diet. I can't do that to save my life.

You CAN do that. The only thing stopping you is the belief that you can't do it. You don't have to be a rock star to just take the first step. The most important step is your next one.....regardless of your last one. I've seen 70+ yr old ladies in our circuit training class and at my old martial arts school. I am so proud of and awed by their effort. Just because I can do more push-ups or whatever.....that doesn't reflect on what they're doing at all. They are kicking ass and it always makes me smile. :)

To be honest, I don't want to exercise and diet. I'm satisfied with my weight, I don't want to change my physique (Well. I wish I was taller, but exercise nor diet helps with that), and I don't care about my health (I know that's bad, but I have my reasons why I don't care). But, I do admire people who do exercise and diet, not so much because I want to be healthier or change something about my appearance. More because it's a lifestyle choice I associate with motivation and discipline. So, when I choose not to exercise or diet, in a society where many exercise and diet, I ask myself... "Am I not motivated and disciplined?" And it makes me feel bad because I think that I'm lazy and lack self control. I don't know.

Fair enough, my friend. I think that if you are happy with who you are....that's the most important thing. I don't think it means you're lazy or undisciplined. It's just not your thing. As for myself, I don't really do it because of anything to do with society. I mostly do it because of the challenge and satisfaction I get in improving. I also like the way it makes me feel because it releases certain chemicals in your brain. I'm amused that it makes me look more muscular but that's not the most important thing for me.
