I've been involved in sports for most of my life but these days I mostly stick to endurance events. The one I like the most is an annual run at some ski hills in the summer. It's about 7 miles up and down those steep hills and through woods and 1/2 a mile in a stream. (Last year while I was waiting to start I saw someone puking halfway up the first hill...I bet he had a tough run that day!) Along the way are 25 or so obstacles to navigate. Those aren't really hard for me because of my job but some people have a tough time with them. But right at the start of it, you run through a bunch of mud and water so you are completely drenched and covered it mud right away. At the end, there is plenty of beer, food and live music. Good times! :afro:

120 squats in less than 4 minutes. Didn't time it exactly, I started at the beginning of a song and ended before it was over.

Back in circuit training this evening. I knew the first day back would be a challenge and I'm glad I didn't do it last Friday. I didn't have the arms for it. But feels great to finally be back after having problems for so long. I just realized it's actually been almost 5 months to the day since I hurt myself. It's been a long and challenging road back. But I AM back, motherfuckers!!

Excruciating practice last night. 27 speed laps (my legs start to quiver at 17...), braking drills, shuffling drills, balance drills, running laps on our toe stops (frontwards, backwards, and sideways), happy feet drills, then an hour of scrimmage. Happy feet consist of being in low derby stance and quickly stomping our feet, then busting out whatever coach yells after he blows his whistle (pushups, burpees, flutter kicks, crunches, etc), then completing as many as possible until he blows his whistle to signal going back to happy feet.

Burpees on skates are a sonofabitch.

I bet burpees on skates really improves your balance though. I'd probably crack my head open trying to do that.

Theyre brutal. We have to drop down directly to push up position, do a push up, hop up on our toe stops, then jump The main reason he makes us do them is to improve our ability to quickly get up when we get laid out. When we're scrimmaging, if we fall and don't recover within 3 seconds, coach makes us all drop where we are and do burpees until the whistle blows.

    Practice tonight:

27 speed laps. I shaved an entire 30 seconds off my time tonight! Fuck yes!

Haul line drills: Conga line, 5 girls in front of you, 5 girls behind. You have to skate laps while pushing the five in front of you and pulling the 5 behind you. (I puked after this one....it's a killer after doing 27 speed laps...)

    Happy feet and shuffling drills.

Oklahoma drills: lying on the track belly down, facing each other. Pop up on the whistle, girl on the left has to block the other for 15 seconds minimum.

    5 on 5 scrimmage.

    3 on 3 scrimmage.

Juking drills: one person speed skates around the track. When they come up to a girl, she has to point which they have to juke at the last second.

Windmill drills: to complicated to explain.

Queen of the Rink: Everyone skating laps. All legal hits allowed. Last girl left standing wins.
