They should, out of respect for their friend, apologize and work on getting this straightened out.

It's very common for people to be fired just for being transgender/transsexual, so whilst I don't know all the ins and outs of this particular situation, it wouldn't surprise me if the person in question has been fired purely for being transgender. Even if that wasn't the reason that was actually given by his/her employers.

 

I feel bad for him for losing the job, but cannot possibly think the employer is in the wrong.

If you want to have a dick, that dick will come with all the negative aspects of a dick, and if you walk around talking about your dick, you get fired. Just because it's not a real one doesn't mean that's acceptable workplace talk.

He should feel lucky he's not the one being sued, for workplace sexual harassment.
