Ok I quit smoking at the middle - end of january then used nicotine gums, 4mg for 5 weeks then went down to 2mg gums for 3 weeks and then quit nicotine altogether - 5 weeks now without any nicotine whatsoever and to defeat any cravings I get I drink very sweet tea, and then go into the garden and start some project or other (so far demolished the old shed, built a new one, put up fencing, and concreted the yard, put down a new lawn and chopped the excess branches off a huge elderberry tree that were blocking the light into our garden. Things are looking neat but quiting smoking is costing a fortune in rubble removal vans and concrete etc
so far I think I spent about £600 all because I really will quit smoking its worth every penny

Well done. I think it's very appropriate that you put this in the Smoke Signals section. Pun intended?

Holy shizzle..I just noticed you only joined the forums in March and have nearly 700 posts. Damn dude. Spam King of the Century.

sigh...I bought a pack this morning after about 2 months smoke free. I only smoke 2-5 a day, maybe every 3 months or so, but still...

    I told myself I wouldn't, but I have a huge term paper due @ 8 a.m. on monday...agh.
College campus, EVERYBODY smokes like crazy!

For me, it helps not to carry money. I really don't like cigarettes showing up on the card, so...yeah, problem solved. :)

nicotine addiction is a tough nut to crack. I was able to quit by the devide and conquer method. First do something the occupy your mouth because your are used to doing something (smoking) with it. Chew gum, fiddle with a straw or pretend to smoke a pen or pencil. With the habbit under control you can more effectivly combat the addition. And remember it's all in your head. You can do it!!! never doubt that.

You're 15. You haven't had the time to feel the long-term effects yet. I guarantee that by the time you're 30, you'll be kicking yourself, wishing you had quit before or never started in the first place:(

    Haha.
    I've been smoking.
    Shit I've been smoking.
    And oh.
    I've been smoking.
    But the smoke
    It doesn't hurt.
    It's relieving
It makes the pain go away
It makes the people around me
    So much more quiet.
It makes their opinions so much more valuable.
That might be cause I can't hear them.

I found it really easy, actually, but then I only smoked about 5-10 a day. I quit for like three months, and then started again as my reward for being so good.

hard to do.. the physical part is okish, but the habit.. pretty hard.. waiting for water to boil while cooking.. coffee brewing.. bustop.. washing the car.. or. even.. the break from a seminar.. i always think, ' shall i just have a ciggy to kill this part of time?' it keeps me smoking on..

Good luck. I'm trying to quit too, but every couple of weeks I break down and smoke one cigarette. With me, it's seeing someone else smoke (whether it be in the movies or in person or whatever) that makes me crave that nicotine. Never should have started in the first place, like they all say. :(
