Treating Dreads Would Be No Different To Treating Ordinary Hair, All You Have To Remember, Is To Make Sure The Chemical Is Well And Truly Worked Into The Centre Of The Dread.... Cheers Glen. P.S.......Stop Panicking, It's Bad For Your Blood Pressure...
That picture was gross. I'd probably have a heart attack if I found one of those in my hair. I offer no help, sorry.
What Glen said, sod these boards get to a chemist. Chemicals won't fuck up your dreads. If you can get some hedrin. Best lice remover without any need for a comb
Have any of you tried suffocating those little buggers with alcohol? I heard that it works better than shampoos/chemist stuff.
Hey bro i had the exact same problem about a month ago. i'd see them fall out in the shower thats how bad it was.. my dreads aint exactly as fully dreaded as yours. i have a bunch of loose hair but ANYWAY. I tried two things before i was lice free.. I tried Listerine.. which didn't do shit except leave me with minty gross hair. I was also iffy about actual products but i found a product called Paraplus and nuked those little bastards out of my hair, used a whole can on my head.. which was meant to treat 4 people apparently (Got to make sure you know) With one use of that, some fell out in the shower, and they were dead.. I had a shit load of eggs in the back of my hair where it wasn't quite dreaded. Combed all the eggs out i could find And now a month later i appear to be lice free, So my advice is, find something that kills the eggs and bugs and cover yourself in it. and repeat after 3 or days Or i hear you can suffocate them with alcohol. But i hadn't tried that yet Good luck man
After putting some chemicals in last night, i left it in over night. Woke up about 1 or 2 and was really bloody itchy and uncomfortable and couldnt get back to sleep for an hour or two. Ended up going n having a shower and washing my hair about 3am, tried my hair as well as I could, then went back to sleep with my hair on a dry towel. Managed to sleep fine after that and then today I havnt had an urge to itch all day today so hopefully that means the lice might be gone, although incase they have laid eggs I'll still try put some more stuff on in a day or two to make sure. Thanks for all the advice so far
just make sure to re-dose in a few days to kill any of the fuckers who hatched from the eggs and you should be good. best of luck. that's sucks dude.
.... A fair bit I must admit. Which i know some people will find absolutley stupid, but it was the most suitable way for me to do it under my circmstances and my life. But yeah $400 AU. Although that included getting them done which took about 4 hours or so, then 2 touch up sessions, which my first touch up took another 3 hours. Still another to go. Cameron
Hey there, Just a bit of an update. It's 5 weeks today. Most are feeling quite tight and starting to lock good. I'm getting a lot of cool/wierd shapes now, as loops, bends, and lumps are begining to form, and I must say I do like them haha. Although I dont like the loss in length in some due to bends and such though. The ends are still a bit loose, and i've got a fair bit of loose hair atm, although atleast they aren't too frizzy. Will apply another round of lice treatment tomorow I hope to hopefully finish them off if any eggs have hatched, although it seems to be fine so far. I counted them today aswell, if i'm right, there should be 72 dreads, which I'm not sure if that's a lot or normal or what. I did have very thick hair. A lot of them a pretty thin though, so I'm going to let a some dread together as I would like them a bit thicker. Anyway, here's some pictures from today: I especially love the colours in the third picture, where the sun kinda highlights the hair. Reminds me a lot of tarantula legs, especially the mature males of some of the Australian species, with black femurs, then light brown ends with red hairs, which look stunningly beautiful in natural sunlight. And seeing as though I breed them and have a great love for them, I'd love for them to look that way always. So I'm thinking I would like to perhaps dye or bleach some of them a little bit to get something similar. Would using the way with lemon work out for a few little bits like that? Thanks. Cameron
Keep in mind that your hair will naturally fade if you do nothing to it, and the tips will turn practically blond, especially if you spend much time in the sun. And natural sun bleaching looks so badass I've never died my hair, ever... So if you're the type who does, go for it and ignore my natural talk. But it will happen on it's own. On an unrelated note, last night I found out that it's quite illegal for you aussies to own "mine kampf" or "quotations from chairman mao tse tung"..... hmm, if we forget the past.... next time someone writes a pretty little red book... no one's gunna know any better. Scary. Of course, wikipedia's sources can help you break the law
Actually yeah that's a good point. I've never dyed my hair in my life either, so I'll keep it that way. I am in the sun a lot, so i'll just let it sun bleach naturally. Thanks aye
First off, your tarantula rant made me smile Secondly, if you do the lemon juice thing, it can change your hair only slightly to an extremely dramatic bleach depending on how much juice you put on and how long you're out in the sun to whether its direct sunlight etc etc etc. basically you just squirt some juice on and go sit in the sunlight. if you do end up going that route you probably don't want to be outside too long unless you want to end up blonde third, your dreads are looking pretty good for a salon job, just keep letting them do their thing and they'll be bad ass. and 72 isn't abnormal just means you have lots of small ones and they'll probably congo together. I have around 32ish and they're all huge fat bastards. and personally, i like the wispy tips nice pictures too btw. you're quite easy on the eyes there.
Haha thanks for the compliments, wasn't expecting them to come with dreadlocks. I just had the idea most girls would be put off by them lol. Nearly 18!! Can't wait! Actually, I'm not that excited really lol. Going into town and such does really excite me that much, i'd rather go camping and have a few drinks then. Although should be fun there if I'm with mates. Being able to buy my own drinks would be a plus though, although i got no money anyway :/ So no rum for me Cheap, cheap cask wine it is! Oh wow, didnt realise the lemon can work so strong. Might give that one a miss then since I don't know what i'm doing Cam
Ive always had a thing for men with dreads Why are you going into town if ya dont wanna go? You should be celebrating how you want to,I think camping sounds like a much better idea than town...egh I hate drinking in town, its mostly full of wankers and slappers and overpriced watered down alcohol But anyway whatever you decide to do I hope you have a good un! Is it soon?
