Finally got around to starting my dreads

I tend to like dreads finger size or smaller, but not too small. My hair was pretty thinned out when I did them, so I'm hopin' they'll thicken up a little.

Damn I was beaten to the lipstick joke Well your dreads probably look about as good as they can at this stage. What kind of responses have you had from friends/family etc?

 

that's one of the reasons I haven't considered combining any (even though the bastards keep tryin' to do that on their own) I'd rather have more smaller dreads than just a few big ones.

I'll dye again, but not for a few months... gonna give my hair a break for a while.

 

Of course my mom doesn't like them, but she knew I didn't care what she thought so she dropped it after her initial response.

Varied responses from friends... some like them now, some say they'll like them once they get longer (I'm with them) but very few of my friends have said that they don't like them.

I agree. I think once they get a bit fatter and mature, they're gonna look great. Any chance that you may dread the back once you get going? Or do you know what you want the final look to be for certain?

 

I don't plan on ever dreading the back, but I'm sure that could change years down the road. I know for sure what I'm going for so I'll keep aiming for that and if I decide I want to do it all down the road, then so be it, but I honestly doubt that I will.

Update, sir!

 

yeah yeah, I know lol... I took some pics last month, but never got around to uploading them, and then I wiped my harddrive before I remembered to.

So now I'm almost at 5 months... might as well wait until I hit the 5 month mark exactly... I will say that my dreads are no longer white or blonde.... growing very slowly, but definitely a little longer. I plan to do some extensions in a week or two, so I'll take some before and after shots for my 5 month update.

Tomorrow though, I'll be wrapping them all with different colored wires for a cyber club event around here, so I'll get some pics of that and post them in the meantime.

 

I guess I'll have to wait.....
