Actually a directive of the patriot act allows the action of a warrent w/ the post-poning of its issue. in other words, the police may w/ out a warrent, bug your house, search it, or take whatever they want, as long as you do not specifically say not to, then legally they issue the warrent weeks after the actual search has been commited, this is perfectly legal and usuable in court. You cats should read the patriot act.
I do think it's reasonable to assume that even the current wacko administration knows the American people are not going to give something like the patriot act even half a chance (not that we should at all,) if it used the patriot act to capture anyone they couldn't justify the use of such extreme means to capture. So though I'm not chiming in with that crap about only having to worry if your doing something wrong, I don't think the feds are remoting your cell phone because you buy or sell weed or anything else short of gas or explosives. So everybody relax. The republicans are in charge, and they will screw things up like they always do because they're idiots....they don't have godlike power though..........yet.
the problem is that we lose more of our freedom every day now. soon it will be a standard practice to track even low level suspects because it will be an accepted institution and easier to fund. all they have to do is get our children used to it. not us.
They can do the same thing with TVs. Using cable lines they can use a "reverse microphone" on the TVs speakers. BUT, all this is very expensive and takes way too much care to set up. So they aren't doing it to you, unless you're a kingpin, warlord, mafiaso, or serial killer. I don't like stuff like this either, but I wouldn't waste my time worrying about it until the threat on everyday freedoms has any actual evidence to support it. It all comes down to this: Do you believe the government in general is good and working for you, or evil and working for itself?
evil and for itself. they have a pretty good track record of having stuff going on behind the curtains.
basically if your that paranoid, take out the battery on your phone, then noone can listen in or tap you
Exactly! Even local police can listen to your phone calls without warrant. They said so on '60 Minutes'.
They can listen and they can pinpoint your location. ( I saw this on a documentary TV) Therefore, the Colombian drug dealer, Pablo Escobar, he would jump in a car and drive around and about Cali while talking on a cell phone every time he had an important conversation. He was aware of it. Furthermore, History Chanal said the Russians also have this capability. They killed a Chechen leader with a rocket while ha was talking on a cell phone.Gosh I wonder why Osama Binladen NEVER uses cell phones. Hmm....
true the technology has been around since the phone itself.. Even if the phone was on the cradle its switch could be bypassed... with celular device.'s anything is possable now... GPS..Id be more concerned about... knowing where you are at...and listening in at anytime... Just dont carry a cell phone.... it can take pictures now.....and someone else can hijack your phone and see where your at also... COOL...
the FBI represents the right authoritarian empire of USA so they can do whatever they want, and they do listen to phone calls, and dont forget all the internet monitoring.
What a pathetic cop out! People fought WARS over privacy in the past, and now some are just volenterring to give out all sorts of private information as if it is no big deal. Terribly sad. With that logic you use, why not let your next door neighbor peer through your window..cause you know, you got nothin' to hide man!
this is fucked up. Pigs need to mind they're own instead of hunting us like animals. If I want to grow a beautiful plant, leave me be. I'm not hurting anyone. They're always watching us somehow... Big Brother is indeed watching...
Nov, 19, 2008, Bill Maher in 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' said: " After 9/11, we panicked! We attacked a wrong country because we panicked; We tortured people because we panicked. We didn't have to torture people to beat the Nazis; We didn't have to tap phones to beat the Soviets. "
Oh yah, this is believable. The FBI knows exactly what cell phone belongs to me, and everybody else in the entire USA. Maybe they have experts who recognize every person's voice, you think? They must also know when my kids borrow my phone so that they don't activate the wrong one. They must also have a super-booster on it so that it works when it's in the other room, or out in my car.
im sure MOST police dont really care about someone just growing a plant, its when you may try to sell the contents of that plant that they may start to care a little more. obviously peoples freedoms are being taken away one by one, and that sucks, but what else can we do but sit back, hit the blunt (if thats your thing) and enjoy what we have left. i've had my own phone bugged by police on multiple occasions and so far i dont personally know anyone that has ever had any trouble with being traced and listen to on the phone through this technique, nor have i seen more then the few news storys they may have had on such matters, so i doubt ill lose any sleep over what somebody might hear through my cell phone. another reason to not have a cell if this worrys you: i dont know if its standard practice for police worldwide, but if your arrested in my city for something the police feel is of importence, to the best of my knowledge they scan your phone through a device that logs into police files all of your phones stored numbers, messages, pictures, songs, videos blah blah blah. i know this because i have seen them scan my own phone, they found pictures inside my folders of various substances (a few pills here and there or maybe some weed) and questioned me about it. i also have some suspicions that after they have scanned it somehow text messages and calls can be logged on their computers, because after they did this my phone make cracked out sounds in phone calls and sometimes messages you would not want the bacon to smell would simply not arrive to my phone, even when sent multiple times. but thats just me being a little paranoid --TMS
