It's strange how our language evolves. People still say tapes because of the traction it got way back during Watergate. Look how -gate" is STILL used to describe various kinds of scandals when it's like a generation old already. I suspect some don't say "recordings" or "audio files" simply because of the number of syllables. So maybe there's simply a lazy aspect to it.
Clinton fired FBI Director William Sessions. Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. Neither firing was illegal, they serve "at the pleasure of the President". Obama's Middle East advisor was forced to resign for opening secret talks with Hamas during the 2004 election. Obama also had secret talks with the Iranians during the 2004 election. Trump fired Flynn for having secret talks with Russia during the election. See where I'm going with this? Dems have been calling for Comey's removal since November so I find it astounding they seem upset that they finally got what they wanted. I swear if Trump reinstated him the left would go berserk demanding he be fired again. Comey's firing has no impact on the investigation. It's in the hands of a special investigator now, but considering both Pelosi and Feinstein just publicly stated there's no evidence of collusion it might be best to tone down the hysteria a bit until the investigation is over. People are tuning out. I have no doubt Russia tried to influence the election, but until somebody provides proof of collusion all we can do is wait. This might very well backfire on Democrats if they're not careful.
Clinton wasn't under investigation by William Sessions when he fired him. Your defense of Trump seems to be, "Well what about the other guy?". That appears to be a veiled admission of guilt. Let's get the investigations under way.
do all fbi investigations stop and get dropped when the chief guy (who actually doesnt even investigate anything) gets fired? that seems kind of odd
He still has the power to fire anyone still doing any investigations, apparently. and you thought he was stupid...., anyone? he knew and knows EXACTLY what he is doing for himself. i don't think they come any shrewder.
I still think he's stupid or at least has a learning disability of sorts his aides have reported having to put his name in several places throughout documents because the only thing that keeps his attention is reading his own name That is not something one would need to do with a smart person.
has the power changed?...or does he have the exact powers of all the previous presidents? were previous presidents not allowed to fire whoever they wanted?
yeah but i also think he's just stupid I know intelligience is multifacted - he may be shrewd enough to know what what will monetarily benefit him, and he definitely has a 6th sense about how to appeal to an, er, certain portion of the population but if someone isn't smart enough to read..something..anything...then they're stupid in my eyes
no he's within his right to fire the FBI director and appoint a new one and we're within our right to examine his motivation in doing so
Not his cup of tea , perhaps...It bores him. He is only thinking about the next deal. I don't think anyone stupid makes zillions of dollars, and grabs the most powerful job there is to continue to make zillions of dollars....and still have his supporters love him. Do you call that stupidity? I said on another thread, not a leader.....but a businessman. Now, maybe some people think that is the way to go for a brave new world.
