I've been listening to a lot of Loreena McKinnet, Tracy Chapman, Janis Joplin, Blondie, and Cat Powers lately.
I don't get into many female vocalists.... but my list would be Janis Joplin Stevie Nicks The Chick from Jefferson Airplane (don't know her name) Joss Stone I've been getting into some flyleaf which has a female singer, but besides that....it's just random chicks whos voices capture me. Like Pink Floyds Pulse Concert, the white girl who sings just BLOWS MY MIND AWAY
lisa ray furukawa anni defranco marry youngblood tchia ahmet (llth: her (performer) name's (the one from airplane/starship, and i forget what they called the group she was in before that) grace slick. she has a son who almost married frank zappa's daughter. she also used to live for a while not far from where i used to live, though this was quite a good number of years ago. she'd be my age, a little older actually, something like about ten years older i'd guess, so if you ever met her she'd probably look like anybody else's grandmother now. which i'm sure she is, at least.) =^^= .../\...
ah hell, i forgot how much i loved tracy chapman til yall reminded me of her awesomeness sarah mclachlan is pretty awesome too. dalbello has a sweet album from quite a while ago (l'artist is lisa dal bello). some of sinead oconnors songs makes my skin go all goosebumpy
Far as sending chills up my spine, Patsy Cline, Sade, and that chick who does the Great Gig in the Sky on Dark Side of the Moon.
I fuckin love her! I also like Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt, Janis, Grace, Brody Dalle, Bridget Regan, Sandy Denny, Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith, and plenty of others...
I was kinda stunned when I first her voice, seemed to me she sounded exactly like my sister would sound if she wasn't deaf.
