I've got that on DVD. Thumbs up if you like thrillers with a surreal edge. I think anything by Argento pretty much qualifies into that category. You may be interested in another legendary Italian director from that golden era, Pier Paolo Pasolini. Take a look at 'Salo' if you can find it. I also have that on DVD.
Another classic. Here's a good little review from an Amazon customer: Like with the aforementioned Un Chien Andalou, elsewhere on this thread, it was actually BUNUEL that is the master behind these masterpieces. Dali, as one of the world most celebrated and remembered artists of the surreal movement lent his name and advice to the films to promote them and give them a cult status. Let us not forget Fellini as well. Anyone seen his films?
i thought the movie 'may' (2002 i think) was good. it was a horror movie but only the end was horror. the rest was purely amazing. lots of fast jumpy flashbacks and strange happenings and it made me look at things differently
Has anyone seen the russian film "Night Watch" yet? That looked pretty surreal from the trailers I saw.
Sorry, gandhiwars, I would have seen it, but it was a bit overhyped over here (a rare thing) and that tends to put me off a lot of films, so unless I hear that it's really really good, I won't bother. I did, however, see an obscure Czech film called 'Faustus' on DVD yesterday. There's no denying that it was surreal. If anyone's really into this form of art then I highly reccomend it.
I'm horrible with genres, but I do love Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and What Dreams May Come. Don't think I've seen the rest. Would the movie Waking Life be considered surreal? That movie was really hard for me to focus on, but after watching it a few times, I really really liked it.
