I would like to be able to view ancient Egypt during their peak. I still can't even wrap my head around the magnitude of those damn pyramids. Seeing them glorious and new? Yes, please!!!
before earth became culturally homogenized (by little green pieces of paper and people telling each other the same things to pretend about what isn't known). or possibly some future when it ceases to be. has there ever been a time, other then now, when different things weren't going on in different places, at any time "in history"? it really makes no sense to speak of periods of history without taking this into account.
Humannature..............*sigh* But i still have some naieve hope.................we learn from our mistakes(history) and hopefully do better in the future.............. Mzzls
The reign of Chandragupta Maurya (350 - 295 BCE) ,who is considered the first Indian emperor in recorded history and founder of the Mauryan dynasty. He reigned from 324 BCE to 293 BCE. Chandragupta, under the tutelage of his advisor Chanakya, created a new empire based on the principles of statecraft, built a large army, and continued expanding the boundaries of his empire until ultimately renouncing it for an ascetic life in his final years. He was the grandfather of the more famous Ashoka the Great (304-232 BCE). Chandragupta's reign, and the Maurya Empire, set an era of economic prosperity, reforms, infrastructure expansions, and tolerance. Many religions thrived within his realms and his descendants' empire. Buddhism, Jainism and Ajivika gained prominence alongside Vedic and Brahmanistic traditions, and minority religions such as Zoroastrianism and the Greek pantheon were respected. A memorial for Chandragupta Maurya exists on the Chandragiri hill in Karnataka, India along with a seventh-century hagiographic inscription. I also respect Emperor Cyrus of the Persian empire (550–530 BC) who is known to be an able administrator and benevolent ruler. He is even revered as a messiah in the bible for liberating jews under the babylonian captivity and facilitating their return to their homeland. Cyrus is the only non-Jewish figure in the Bible to be revered in this capacity. The United Nations has declared the Cyrus Cylinder to be an "ancient declaration of human rights".
