Out of those, either Terrapin Station or Friend of the Devil. Else it's probably something off Aoxomoxoa, preferably live. Or, of course, Dark Star, which is never the same so it's never boring.
Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleoo! and pretty much any song that appears on American Beauty or Workingman's Dead brings tears to my eyes.
Black muddy river brings me to tears so thats where i gotta lay my vote down... but bobby sure does do a mean prophet
On that (very limited) list, I would say Ripple, but that will probably change tomorrow. My favourite though is Cumberland Blues.
Since you haven't added Unbroken Chain and restarted the poll....here goes... Terrrapin or Shakedown w/ Fire as a close 3rd.
From that list I'd go for "Fire on the Mountain", but of all Dead songs, I'd have to say my favorite would be a toss up between "Wharf Rat" and "Dark Star".
Got a wife in chino and one in cherokee, first one says shes got my child but it dont look like me! Said I'm runnin but i'll take my time a friend of the devil is a friend of mine. I get home before daylight. Just might get some sleep toooooniiiiiight!!!!
Friend of the devil. If Franklin's Tower was a pick i would be all over that. My all time fav dead tune
um, off the list... terrapin. Actual: a throw down between looks like rain, liberty, eyes of the world, he's gone, brokedown palace, ship of fools, if i had the world to give.... I could think of a whole lot of songs that should have been on this list. But then, I don't really listen to the greatest hits c.d.'s so much (not to crack on anyone that does!) More bootlegs and tapers streams, etc. There is so much more than Radio music when it comes to the dead. Please get over to say... dead.net and check out the tapers section. It's got tons of stuff that is just great for getting to know some stuff that ain't on without a net or american beauty. My first album was american beauty, and now it just sits in a box. cuz there are a million other songs (or at least versions) to be heard, each one better than the last. peace & whatnot
