I absolutely love classic films! I actually have a particular interest in Bette Davis, as she's my all-time acting hero, and own all but a handful of her movies. My favorite classic films in general are probably: The Seventh Seal All About Eve The Children's Hour Bringing Up Baby The Song of Bernadette Harvey Now, Voyager Casablanca Dr. Zhivago Dark Victory The Little Foxes Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? And a billion others, I'm sure.
The Thirty-Nine Steps [Kenneth More as Hannay,1959] Hobsons Choice [John Mills,1954] The Life of Brian [Monty Python,1979] Whistle Down the Wind [Hayley Mills,1961] All but one of these are very English,so may be obscure..
The Phantom of the Opera (1925/1930) Angels with Dirty Faces Harvey The Searchers Dial M for Murder MASH THX-1138
Classic Sci-Fi movies are my favorite down time movies. Here are just a few of my top 20- Forbidden Planet The Thing The day the Earth Stood Still The Time Machine Invasion of the body Snatchers War of the Worlds Fahrenheit 451 Metropolis 2001: a Space Odyssey Planet of the Apes Robinson Crusoe on Mars The Blob and many others to numerous to mention. These are all pre-1970 Sci-Fi movies that need to be on your must see list.
It'd take me forever to come up with a comprehensive list of my favorite classics, so I'm going to stick to the few that are always come to mind: White Heat, Rear Window, Harvey, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (the Newman/Ives/Taylor one), The Philadelphia Story. Hmm. That's all I got for now.
this covers most of mine, i think alfred hitchcock would cover the rest....and add the wizard of oz but only if you have the dark side of the moon on hand.
The Godfather I & II The Dark Knight Groundhog Day Dog Day Afternoon The Shining Caddyshack Psycho Jean de Florette & Manon of. The Spring Goodfellas Unforgiven
anybody know what movie it is thats black and white. the first 20 minutes or so are from a mans first point of view, because he had an operation on his face to look like someone else. there is a scene where he takes a shower and says. "im glad you left a towel big enough to cover my embarrassment" if i remember correctly the main guy was a big time actor but i cant remember the title of the movie.
Pensfan13, the movie you're looking for is, I think, DARK PASSAGE, with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall from 1947. Bogart is Vincent Perry, who escapes from Prison at the beginning of the movie. He's in prison for the murder of his wife. He's actually innocent. With the help of Lauren Bacall and a few others, including a cab driver, he eventually confronts his wife's real killer.
Absolutely! I even like the old laugh out loud B-movie Sci-Fi's. There are a few I saw as a child that scared the pants off me that I've seen again as an adult and have to laugh at myself for how terrified I was back then.
Paper Moon from 1973. If you haven't seen it then for goodness sake do! So many people haven't seen this movie I'm shocked. It's a total pearl. During the Great Depression, a con man finds himself saddled with a young girl who may or may not be his daughter, and the two forge an unlikely partnership.
Love this movie! I saw it at the theatre (and bought the DVD). QP P.S. I'm pretty sure Tatum O'Neal won a special Academy Award for her performance in the film. She was brilliant. QP
