as for oe....its bad.....really bad in my opinion. but then i think most of the beers you listed ad favorites are bad, too, so its all relatve. though i do like some of the leinenkugel beers
^^^hahaha yea, a few of you guys don't like the basics.....whats up?!?!?? haha jk. But, half that stuff you listed, i've never even heard of....im just a cheap white boy with easy-to-please taste buds
I just noticed a couple people on the first few pages of this thread, listed OE as their favs. I don't personally know anyone that likes it either.......
OE Tastes bad going down, tastes worse coming up, and leaves you with a bigger hangover from drinking 1 40oz then drinking a 26er of hard liquor hahah there's really nothin good about it imo, malt liquor ftl
Tie between Le Fin du Monde from Unibrew, Sasion Dupont, and Charocole. But for everyday drinking can't beat Long Trail Double Bag or Hoegarden.
true, i'm thinking of quitting drinking entirely. not only do i drink good stuff, i drink often and often with large quantities. ive had nights where i drank as much as 30 dollars or more worth of good beers, and only had a few big bottles - usually strong stuff, too (6-12%ABV range) so i end up pretty drunk. i'm considering quitting drinking because i drink too often and its unhealthy, because i've got the start of a beer gut and cutting out alcohol will significantly reduce my caloric intake, because i won't have anymore hangovers, and because i'm poor and can't afford to drink so much anyways. but my budget honestly is one of the biggest reasons my favorite alcoholic beverages are beer and rum.....both are comparatively cheaper than other similar beverages, even when they're really really good. there are some amazingly good beers and rums out there, which cost next to nothing compared to amazingly good wine, brandy, and scotch. >most< expensive beers dont run much higher than 15 bucks a bottle (there are some notable exceptions, of course, sometimes extreme exceptions) and 5-10 dollars is pretty normal for some of the expensive beers. with the same size bottle of wine, and with only a marginally higher alcohol content, a really good bottle of wine will often cost 50-200 dollars...sometimes more...quite different price range than good beers. similar with rums, the most expensive i've ever seen was 200 dollars, but it was an anomaly, a particularly long-aged rum of high quality....most good rums are 20-40 dollars a bottle, and, in my opinion, on par with good scotches, brandies and such, which cost anywhere from 50-1000 bucks...thats right, i've seen cognac and scotch going for close to a thousand bucks just for a fifth and as for "not liking the basics" i love the basics! dont get me wrong, i genuinely LIKE simple beer. i do drink a lot of strohs and PBR, and occasionally genessee or miller. and i do enjoy these drinks. they're crisp, light, refreshing, and get you buzzed. but they're no match to ruination ipa, maharaja imperial india pale ale, chimay cinq cents or grande reserve, don de dieu, paulaner hefeweizen, hoegaarden, kentucky breakfast stout, foret, boone geuze.....and the list goes on. its not that i dislike more affordable and simple, modest beers. there are a ton of bad ones out there and a few good ones, and i enjoy them. i just enjoy a lot of the more intense and pricier ones way more, and enjoy them very, very much. but i drink too much and spend too much on it, so im thinking about quitting. i might just try to go the more "natural" route and simply stick to the grass
rum is a cheap way to go about gettin a couple people or you drunk a couple times beer is also cheap if you look right but theres nothing cheaper than a gravity bong an eighth can last me forever with that thing and only for 25 thats why i usually stick to the herb
today i might have a friend over, so i figured i ought to be able to be hospitable. i may have no furniture, and i may not have much money, but i know how to cook and decided i should go to the store and pick up a few provisions.... i already have some chicken breasts thawing, so i picked up some charcoal (we have one or two bbqs that anyone in the apartment complex is allowed to use) some italian dressing in which to marinate the chicken, some orange bell pepper, some onion, and some cherry tomatoes. gonna make some skewers....then i also got some fresh green beans cause i have olive oil and fresh garlic and i've got some chili powder and salt and pepper, and honestly some sauteed green beans are delicious and good for you to boot. i picked up some beer, and since i'm low on cash i went with my trustworthy standby: mmmm, mmmm drink it, fools course the friend in question who may come over is preggers so she can't have any beer. but i can and will. hooray beer! despite being really inexpensive, strohs outranks most comparable beers in terms of average user rating on beeradvocate.com.... budweiser, pbr, corona, rolling rock, fosters, dos equis, mgd and miller high life....all are outranked by stroh's in terms of average ratings... and strohs is cheaper than most of them to boot - especially corona and fosters.... if i'm gonna drink cheap beer and can't get yeungling or something, i'll go with strohs
i had that spring ale when i first saw it released in the stores back in spring....it was interesting, but i remember it not suiting my tastes too well. the lime leaves and peel certainly added new aspects and character to the flavor, but it was a bit bitter, and not like a good hoppy kind of bitter....like bitter, unedible leaves bitter....i only had it the one time, but i didnt like it too well. but i did think it was decent and well made, and it was interesting to say the least. i can see why other folks might like it better than me....good pick, interesting anyway. i just got boring old macro lager
wow, what you just said there is amazingly accurate to my own opinion of this beer. You have good taste =) I also love blue moon w/orange wedge. SFG
