I think it does matter how you word it, because you end up creating another narrative that isn't accurate, imho. As you demonstrated. You also seem to be quite happy to stick to your own opinions rather than looking at the facts: 'Welcome to the end of privacy, no matter what governments tell you.' I didn't mean to be rude when I said you were not adding anything to the conversation, just that all of your links were basically saying the same thing. Telephone companies have been gathering metadata for decades. How do you think they give you itemised bills? It doesn't really concern me that GCHQ or 'The Americans' have access to who I've called and when. I'm not quite sure how they would attach me to my No. given I'm on a pay as you go sim. But It doesn't bother me one bit. I am concerned when it strays into what I get upto on the Internet, though. That's quite alarming. I don't think 'the government' is listening in on all of my telephone calls, and I don't really think they give a toss about what I get upto on the Internet. But It does feel like a creepy old perv is watching, though. NAKED. With his hands where they shouldn't really be. But, out of sight, out of mind. I know what I can do if I am really concerned. I also know what you can do if you are really concerned.
Ok, odon II, I suppose we'll simply have to get used to everything being worldwide public. Maybe you are Right. As far as Internet goes, it's always been public. E-Mails and all, with the Patriot Act 'fighting Terrorism'.
I don't think so. Not routinely, anyway. We can dispute what both sides have said till the cows come home. I know they could read them if they wanted to. Lets presume they do. Like I said: I know what I can do if I am really concerned. I also know what you can do if you are really concerned. I have been writing emails for the last 10 years, and I'm not in some gulag. I do appreciate privacy issues, but It really has never crossed my mind that some pen-pusher is reading all of my emails. Ignorance is bliss, as they say. All of this does make me feel a little naked, and it is a little creepy - but I'm really not that bothered at the end of the day, to be honest. The feeling will pass.
I'm agreeing with you.the feeling will pass. We tend to forget we are being watched anyway. And we have nothing to hide. If I write a love letter, I just mean my girl friend to read it. But if the NSA surveillance is interested, let them have a bite.
I'd probably send a love letter through the post or hand deliver it rather than texting/emailing. Unless you think they scan all of our mail, too...

Yes the Mail is better to send something personal to your GF, I don't know if some are read, I do know that in countries with Dictatorships this is done. It's great to believe this is a free world, I don't think it is anymore, if it ever was. Hand declive ring it is good , if you are near the place she lives seems fine as an option.
