And what is clearing the cookies on your computer going to do? Facebook's database remains, it's their property even though it's your information. Also because you can not delete your Facebook account, only deactivate it, they will continue to track you anywhere you go on the internet (if there is a "like" button on that page......) You don't even have to chick the "like" button to be tracked.

Deleting cookies does nothing for this issue. Not saying clearing cookies is bad, just won't do anything about this issue.

Bugs me that "Facebook" is in the spell check...... Bastards!

So even with the cookies gone they'll still track me & what not?
Also, on firefox with a mac, how do I clear cookies?
And if getting rid of the cookies DOES something, if I open firefox will the cookies be there still?
No, right, cause they'd be deleted haha?

Not sure how Mac deals with cookies, I would imagine it's pretty much the same.

Cookies are just a text file stored in a directory (folder) on the hard drive. While they were easy to find in XP they are hidden better in Win7, I'm sure they are impossible to find on a Mac. From within your browser though there should be an option or tool to clear cookies. Sometimes this is selective sometimes the only option is to clear all of them. Clearing all of them would make logging into your favorite sites as if you were never there before, selectively clearing them, if it's an option, is usually better. Manually clearing only those you want to is best, but if you can't find the individual files or know what you are looking at, it becomes impossible. (again with Mac's draconian file management system, I doubt you would find them)

Some guys act like cookies are the equivalent to viruses or spyware, they really aren't, but they are necessary if you plan to do anything on the web. If you set up your system to block all cookies, you won't even be able to check your email...... They aren't evil, it's a text file that says "you've been here before"..... That's all they are.

Ok so they see the websites I go to...

Is the CIA going to come an abduct me for visiting hipforums? I doubt there obtaining anything moderately interesting that they couldn't get by simply using google.

If your so concerned about a social networking website seeing websites people commonly frequent then I am a little worried. It's similar to google saving everything that you search. The internet is used to share information and if you don't want anyone knowing what you do then I suggest you throw your computer away now.

On a sidenote, Facebook has just openly told users how it gets ads for them (by things you like), and that, "No, we do not sell your information".
I'm sure you coulda found it before, but now facebook has it right on your homepage.

Does the "InPrivate browsing" option block the cookies?
