That is called pluralism; but mind you this is occurring now when there isn't any democracy available for something that, right now to me, doesn't make sense.

Pluralism you see is an old Greek term for permanence in question over the ideal of something needing some way for conservation.;)

    That being?

The essential emerges diversely it's only requirement space,(not void) In every probable sense energy has the propensity to materialize. It is special circumstance that doesn't make sense, all movement is seeking. Considering the potential of being or not I find no real argument, no essential opposition. Creation is a law without opposite.

Thank you for the lesson on greek philosophy.

I make no sense of China teaming up with Russia over Syria again. And that's serious.

  7. No I haven't tried making sense of everything! Such would be an exercise in futility, precisely because I know I can't account for every concern. Every concern cannot be accounted for, which is why I come to the conclusion that everything doesn't make sense.

And we shouldn't look for something to make sense of everything. I mean, we should still strive to unite general relativity with quantum mechanics, for instance, but we shouldn't mistake it for something that has made sense of everything.

The sense making machinery of your own mind cannot be overlooked when you are assessing things at large. That is you cannot escape the effects of your own thinking. The formula you espouse here insures a certain amount of ignorance as you describe inquiry as futile, coming to a conclusion without ever having asked a question.
Whereas something is not everything, everything is one thing, Real.
    R=(a to z)

In the guise of everything, every concern is accounted for or everything has it's moment in the sun so to speak. Nothing real is made unreal and nothing unreal exists. No place is more real than any other place. Everything is as it is always and ever not discounting that appearances can be deceiving.

As a practical matter an individual cannot assay every discrete location in the universe but we can appreciate universals as reality is one thing.
Using the lowest common denominator multiplication is then quick addition.

Why the should in either instance?

The faith you describe comes before. Consciousness arises to find direction as in where da food at. We come seeking with the belief there is good for me/us and I/we must have it. We are hard wired to find our good occupying our every conscious leaning. We are devoted by and in nature.

  14. I see it a little differently. I am not insuring ignorance, but rather increasing our knowledge base incrementally by adding one more fact: that everything makes no sense. What can be made sense of remains what can be made sense of.

All the information that exists is accountable in everything, but every concern is not. Such concerns as "Why does everything exist?" If everything being as it is sufficed to answer that question, then we wouldn't have much to learn.

The problem I have with your formulation is that you still aren't clear what "makes sense" means. In this post, you seem to suggest that it means we can't explain everything, or answer such really deep questions as "why there is something instead of nothing?" or "how do we know we're not just brains in a jar, or Matrix-style virtual reality programs on some alien's computer? Philosophers have debated matters like this for eons. Maybe some day, we'll find the answers, although I seriously doubt it. I'm one of those philistines who just doesn't give a rats ass, and thinks its a waste of time to give much thought to them. I'm inclined to say "Nothing is certain, not even that" and get on with it. But the quest can be fun, if you don't let it stress you out.

Sometimes, Knowing, isn't all it's cracked up to be - Enlightenment Costs!

  17. If something makes sense, then it can be formulated in words. I'm saying there is no formulation that could adequately describe our experience of the world.

We'll find more answers, but there is no "the answer". Even if we find this all to be some kind of matrix, that still won't satisfactorily explain the nature of existence, whether it be good or bad. I mean, can you be sad in the Matrix? Can you cry in the Matrix?

I don't think you're a philistine just because you think it's a waste of time. I've known intelligent people who thought so. The main purpose of this thread is to draw others to the cause of everything not making any sense. It's a perfectly viable perspective that deserves its place in the conversation. I've seen enough of "God makes sense" or "atheism makes sense." What about everything not making sense making sense?

when nonsense is imposed i may feel horrified unless i'm not
very surprised . when escaping the horrible it'd be useful to
think everything makes no sense . consider all the nonsense
a conformist clown with dementia would impose on you , again
and again until you are numb dumb . so what . nothing shall be
horrible . the police are allowed to torture and kill crazy homeless
people . both the horrible and the horrible bums shall be no mo' .

everything makes no sense and the world is at peace . an imposed
peace is insensible and thus good .

what of the few people who would like to believe peace is free
and sensible ? they are a curiosity . probably homeless or about
to be - very important to not go crazy though . how to do this ?
relate well to the everything .

I'm with Okiefreak on inadequate definition of terms. We got sense now in the form of being able to articulate an idea. But then there is the word everything. We could look at everything as the set of all things and since something, being one of the set of all things, makes sense then everything is not senseless.

To me it seems nothing out of place. The sense of everything can be articulated as in everything is in a constant state of becoming, or in other terms we see things moving. Movement from impulse to illumination from some nth degree above absolute zero to the speed of light.

I sense you are making an appeal for practical efforts. What is the source of sense? You are the measure of all things, the crown of sentient creation and therefor the adage know thyself.

I see it a little differently. In regarding the question of why do I exist I come to the instant of conception. For our practical purposes everything is an idea. That everything is as it is, is fundamentally sound and frankly comforting. It means that we can tell one thing from another, a head from a tail for example and not be fearful that they will arbitrarily switch places. The universe is made of information and there is no requirement that it be difficult to apprehend. There is always more to learn however as everything is in a constant state of becoming,

As I said to Anaximines it is the special case that confounds the theory of everything. The least concern is energetically/materially the same as the greatest devotion. They differ only in degree of intensity. Ice, water, and steam are all essential motion, light reflective, differing only in vibratory frequency.
