Personally, I am descended from Scots, English, Irish, Welsh, Spanish, French, Dutch, Norwegians, Danes, Swedes, Finns, Swiss, Czechs, Poles, Italians, Germans, and Native American. We're all cousins whether you care or not.

Cant say i agree here. Not saying one is better than the other, but the US certainly isnt what the whole of Europe is.

You can say whatever, but its still a fact that no other nation than the US has used them and therefore cant be trusted.

In terms of size it is, and really in terms of diversity it almost is too.

Well, it was the European countries that used poison gas in WW1 too and not us, so I guess we really shoudn't trust them either.

Pop Art originated in England then went over to America, but it
    all started in England first.

I still think America has no style, don't get me started on their
car design compared to us Europeans when it comes to Jaguars,
Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Rolls Royce, Porshe, Mercedes, etc, etc, etc.

I can't believe you guys are still arguing who's better, like you let politicians define who you are. Art is art, and has no country. The influences go in every direction.

I for one, like to know where art comes from and who are the pioneers. I like to know about my history and learn from it. But then again I have a thirst to learn, do you.!

I know, but American pop art is still slightly different from British pop art. Harsher in a way, more commercial maybe?

american muscle cars > than all.

anyways...as for american art. Abstract expressionism. It made New York, not a european capital the center of the art world.

and oh...the greeks and romans were NOT europeans. They were Romans and Greeks(individualized city states). Germans were as much barbarians to an athenians as the persians. Anyways, the History of Americans involves the history of many nations...including european nations. You can't say that Homer belongs to Europe and not America. You can't say that Shakespeare belongs to England and not America, etc. Does an english person lose his history because he moved to america? Does a french/russian/italian/irish whatever lose his claim to his history because he moved to america. Heck no. My Family is irish and Italian and i have as much claim of 'roman heritage' as much as any italian.

art doesn't come out of nothing. Art is explained by the time period and the culture. You cant understand art without understanding the country it came from.

    Apart from art, although similar

Europe invented the ''INTERNATIONAL TYPOGRAPHIC STYLE''

Where would you Americans be without the English alphabet and language.? Altogether a really unfortunate thread. For instance, you could not read what
I'm writing now if it was not for us.

England, a tiny small island in Europe with so much influence, beats usa, in a pulse,
let alone Europe as a whole.

learn your history, appreciate and understand, and remember
    knowledge is power.

Yes, always leave it to the Americans to ''DO THEIR OWN THING'',
us Europeans are Pioneers, they followed, we started.
I always find it almost retarded when you see yanks in the forum and they spell phonetically and can't spell or punctuate. Oh how I laugh.

you really are ignorant of history.

Don't worry, I won't judge all europeans based on you. I am better than that.

Lets remember that we're communicating on the internet. Hrmm..wonder where that came from...
