you forgot some people: Literature: Robert Frost Robert Jordan(THE best in fantasy, IMO)-Add most fantasy writers. Frank herbert(Dune, need i say more?)- add most sci fi writers Melville Salinger Edith Wharton Henry James T.S. Eliot willa Cather theodoreDreiser sherwood Anderson joseph heller ray bradbury kurt vonnegut harper lee maya angelou james dickey margaret mitchell ayn rand virginia wolf orson scott card ralph ellison ralph waldo emerson faulkner jamaica kincaid vladimir nabokov william carlos williams gertrude stein john updike james fenimore cooper Thats just the very beginning and people i know of...that doesn't include modern people like clancy or crichton... or political writers such as Jefferson/Adams/Paine which are second to none. That's in just 230 years. No nation is our superior in literature. as for music? ALmost all popular music today is derived from American music. art? meh, not my thing. Lets remember that Europe is continually worried about "Americanization." Apparently you guys like our shit more than you like your own stuff.
Stalin would had used nukes in a heartbeat so dont even go there. The reason the soviets did not use nukes was simple "they did not have it" by the time they muster the atomic bomb we had a huge lead on them. by the time the russians built and detonated enough nuclear bombs they figure out in a nuclear war they are no winners.
Politics too, jeez, it took you guys from ancient Rome to the French revolution(which was inspired by ours) to get democray back. Took us about 150 before we were like, "nah, fuck this"
The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself
I haven't heard about many of this people, or the writers the other dude was talking about... but face it that one on one, america stands no chance against european culture.... europe leads in literature, art, architecture, sculpturing, religion, languages, and music... you actualy wrote everybody you could think of and some of those people i never actually heard of... i could make a longer list of famous european writers and poets that everyone in the world know about but you probalby never heard of the either of them because you are a stupid american P.S. lets play a game actually..... you name all american famous artists, painters, architecrs etc and i will name european artists, painters etc.. let's see who makes a larger list
how many thousands of years of history are you trying to compare to 230 years of american history? You know, actually, that is rather fair
pointless arguing like that. america has culture lots of it. diffirent kinds so what you dont like mainstream? well there's allways the underground culture. btw:koopa thanks for solving my thought about religion in america that realy made sense.
hehehe it's just funny. probably one big joke. bird migration is dutch indeed. but how can superiority of people be defined by borders. borders have no effect on the superiority of certain man in the same way race has. besides that, some of the arguments are very questionable. BTW i'm a dutchie as finishing touch, god created the dutch :& lalala
i think the exact command God gave was "let there be laughter!" i kid, i kid my wooden shoe wearing friend
I found it quite funny and on the other hand unfortunate that someone actually sat down infront of their PC and listed as many names as possible of American artists. But it was even funnier that the person went further and had to list other categories. America has not made one art movement in any way unlike Europe, all your so called art is completely influenced by our European art movements. eg, Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classical, Romantic Period, Realism, Pre-Raphaelite, Impressionism, Expressionism, Cubism, Abstract, Surrealism, So look what we Europeans have contributed to the world of art. Everything in the world stems from these movements with a few exceptions. What's America contributed.?
Any civilization is rooted in another civilization. There has always been a source. Nothing comes from nothing... But we all come from Africa... That's where it all started... ...I've heard that there was an ancient metropolis at the size about 100,000 inhabitans near central Africa, 50,000 (not 5000) years ago or something like that... I wish I still had the source of that scientifically article in my hand, so that I would be able to bring the references to you... I had it in my hands a few years ago, but unfortunately I didn't keep it...
