few things i've allways wondered is why religion is so much bigger deal in the states.. perhaps because orginal americans (not indians) who came from europe because tehy couldnt take the sweet corruption and sexual freedom. land of the free has become land of the not so free "osama bin laden and saddam hussein loiter around the corner our kids must be checked for not having weapons or terrorist will get us"

well i think the situation IS gonna get better since i know a lot of young americans who are so fed and pissed off about the current politics in so called land of the free. dont try to fight em join em and corrupt em from inside out.

 

I find it kinda funny that they wanna take evolution out of their school, cause it promotes voilence and unprotected sex... HAHA!!! It can't be because their stupid schools won't teach about sex!? No way

Tack it on the wall, and when needed, you can substitute the word "European" for other words like "Africans" or "Asians". Or when it suits you, you can substitute "American" with the word "White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" and "European" with "Catholic" or "Jew" or "Muslim". I think you found a wonderful tool for teaching your children prejudice, intolerance and hate. Now, raise your right arm in the air, and say in a loud proud voice, "Sieg Heil!". Incidentally, advocating these sort of posts are usually in violation of common forum rules. They're also great bait for trolling.

i just spent 2 hours spending time reading how noble america (read sarcasm)
spent time protecting the weak in south-america.

ps: anyone remember/notice how those denmark crazed arabs actualy burned switzerlands flag D (the suppousedly most neutral country in the world)

 

Just wanted to speak up about where is better than where. The Americans that bash Europe have never been there are basing their opinions on the stuck up European image they see on TV as well as the skewed versions of history that are taught in US Schools. I would also wager that most of the America haters have never set foot in America.

I am a red state American (sorry...I voted for the other guy) that travels to Europe on a regular basis and I love it here (In Spain at the moment). Once you've been on both sides of the pond and have enjoyed the people and the culture you will change your mind. Except for France. France really does suck.

Don't really know why, I have nothing against France or it's people, but that made me laugh.

I usually don't post, but I thought this was an important topic.

Anyway, OBVIOUSLY the guy who started the thread just wanted to make trouble. Arguing about who is "better" is, first, ridiculous, and second, doing exactly what he wanted us to do. We all need to open our minds a little and work together to fight the problems that the world is facing.

Also, about Iran, something needs to be done, and talking is just buying them time. I'm not advocating a military strike, but everyone should realize that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.

And I don't know who you got your information from, but the whole evolution in schools thing has nothing to do with voilence or sex. It has to do with creationism and America's religious right.

Ok first off let me say that the original poster of this thread was very arrogant and made claims that can't even be quantified.......

As for your comments Spacer.....

1. Americans travel quite a bit. Its just that european nations are the size of american states and america (while being diverse in its own right) is america. People in Kansas don't have there own language and cling together to preserve Kansas heritage and attack neighboring states to keep Kansas heritage. European nations are U.S. state sized countries with more individual cultures thriving in them. So a travelling European sees more culture in THE SAME TRAVELING DISTANCE

2. we don't speak as many languages because our country is a unified country with its own culture that extends throughout the entire country. see #1. Think about it, we have canada to the north which speaks english and mexico to the south which speaks spanish and THATS IT. If I had 6 different state sized countries withen a 3 hour drive surrounding my state sized country I'd have a reason to know more languages.....

3. As for Bush, I hate him..... but ultimately the bottom line is that the USA has ALWAYS re-elected republican presidents during times of war. So it has nothing to do with Bush. He is a chump, but then again the position of president is a puppet position anyway now isnt' it?

both good questions......

i think the first question is the answer to the second question. Its the religious right that leads to the lack of sexual education. I blame the catholics more than any other christian group for that one.

as for why its so religious.......

Obviously at the time the USA was founded and just before, laws and religion worked much more closely. Thats why the seperation of church and state came into effect quickly in the USA. While in Europe at the time this was definately the case and even the reason why many left for america. It wasn't just criminals seeking freedom / getting the boot and people with unpopular religious beliefs seeking a place for religious freedom. It was also a place for people seeking a seperation of church and state, while for others who landed even further west in the USA it was a place without laws! This removal of religion left lots morally directionless. Direction is the power of religion, its an organized belief system that acts as a social control. Religion provided ethics that unified people, provided an emotional crutch for scared and downtrodden people, and gave motivation to people. Its like when your 18 and go to college....the first time you have nobody over your shoulder telling you what to do, some find themselves doing NOTHING AT ALL which is bad for economics. So religion was strongly instilled to control people and support the economy. But eventually the "melting pot" strips everybody of there cultural heritage and ultimately leads to the questioning of morality and new found rejection of religious belief systems.

 

Bird, you have to stop complimenting us like that, we know we're superior over here but you should learn from us rather than boost our European egos.
