you think that one corner would have changed things? I don't remember how Russia had done till that point but overall, they were lack luster and could not get anything done. I doubt getting that corner would have done a thing. But you are talking about the one that grazed the goalies finger tips? That is HARD to call in live action on the spot. Easy to watch a few replays in slow mo and judge. But that is tough to judge in literally two seconds at break neck speed, especially if the ref had a bad angle. Anywho, Spain had their way, if not for 90 minutes, than at least 60. The way they toyed with the Russians leading up to the 3rd goal was insane, wow! Everyone in the stadium knew the game was mentally (for the Russians) practically over shortly after 1-0 and physically (again for the Russians) done after 2-0. They took what, 3 shots in the last 45, one on goal? Psshh, no threat. But yah, that was what I figured would happen with the Dutch game, just came a game later. I mean, the Dutch are usually Top 5 in the world...Russia is lucky if they are Top 30 and I think ranked below the USA even. Musta been something disastrous like you said pre game to take that focus away from the NL team. Though the defense leaves a little to be desired for the Netherlands.
Well, I'm obviously rooting for Spain (I even have a shirt) but I'm already so glad they beat Russia and made it to the finals.
Spain one ( my jt 2nd /3rd favourites in the tournament) and Germany lost. Double result if you ask me.
