heh, well he had "gods gift"...just saw wonderland yesterday...fairly decent, Val Kilmer plays him damn similar to how he did Jim Morrison though I was actually thinking more along the lines of Foghat
i love eric clapton's work with cream (particularly the live albums) and derek and the dominoes, though i can't say i'm a fan of most of his solo stuff. the "me and mr. johnson" album is fucking awesome, though. and i don't see what the problem with the youth of today listening to classic rock is. we still have plenty of other great bands (gov't mule, derek trucks band, gomez, STS9) to name a few of my personal favorites. it just kind of seems like you're trying to make a broad generalization about classic rock fans, and then just piss them off for no legitimate reason. well, whatever floats your boat, i suppose. p.s. the "clapton is god" thing came about in england during his bluesbreaker days. can't blame our generation for that one, i'm afraid.
hmmm I don't know, shouldn't the young be interested in creating something new or to at least like the good stuff from the past instead of the generic and bland..... I'm not criticizing all classic rock, I'm just telling you the absolute truth, Clapton is boring...I thought everyone knew that by now
how are the other bands i created NOT creating something new and interesting? and your personal opinions of clapton's music can't really be used to justify your argument, you're just making yourself look foolish and petty.
All he is saying is that he finds Clapton to be overated. He admits that he is a good guitar player, but finds his music to be boring. There's no bad argument in that - its an opinion - one that I happen to agree with.
I like Cream... but not because of Clapton. I like Jack Bruce. Cream's live work is often boring to me simply because Clapton always plays these really long, really boring solos. They're so... dull. Plus, the Yardbirds were better after Beck replaced Clapton. And I hate "Layla." Clapton isn't a songwriter. He seems like he might be a nice guy, though. *Shrugs*
come to think of it,he is rather boring, but like many said before, he is a great guitarest. Cream is a great band however, i dont find them boring at all...
no, he said, and i quote this verbatim, "I'm just telling you the absolute truth, Clapton is boring...I thought everyone knew that by now". he isn't stating an opinion, he's trying to impose that opinion on others, for no better reason than the fact that he's an asshole. -the end.
You want to know what boring is? You should watch Derek Trucks play live. The man doesn't move an inch throughout the entire show and never looks at the audience. At least when I go to a Clapton show, I can laugh at the funny faces he makes when he's doing solos.
geez, you insult some 16 year old from wyomings super derivitive white blues and they get damn personal. HONK
I'm an idiot because I state my opinion... You are an idiot because you get pissed off because I don't like the boring music that you do
To each their own, . You either like it or you don't. I do like Eric Claptons tone and some of his solos are interesting... but the songs are mediocre and borish. I like his Robert Cray covers... but not as good as Robert does them.
yea totally, thats what I was getting at orsino, a good player, but not very creative really...nor does it seem like he plays with much feeling, especially when compared to the blues players that influenced him....he is like adult contemporary blues.
