How manieth time? (yes, i know it is not the official spelling )

 

Sometimes I tell my boyfriend to go out with his friends on Fridays so I can watch chick flicks or put on music he hates and dance.

 

Some of my friends girlfriends should take your example...

 

Haha alone time is a precious commodity. I never understood couples who live together and won't let the other one go out unless they both go. That's so silly.

 

I shanghaid one of my friends to go see some live music on thursday. Haven't seen him this year yet and I have never met his girlfriend (they're together for almost a year)... It's slightly ridicilous so I pointed it out to him Glad he seemed to take it to heart!

in German it can be used the same way, but most people don't know the word. It's a term often used by seafarers. That makes it a bit 'international' I guess.

We as a seafaring nation have our own word for it: ronselen. Being shanghaid = geronseld worden. I think it IS an international slang word that is also known and used in our language, but 'ronselen' is definitely more known and used.

hm, I have to confess that I can't ad hoc remember a widely used German term with the meaning of 'shanghaien'. It's likely that the word 'pressen', which has the same meaning, is understood as 'erpressen', which means to blackmail someone. But that is different from 'shanghaien'. We are all landlubbers here, so we don't understand seafarer slang .

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary last night. We lined up a sitter. By the end of the evening, I think we both would have rathered to stay home. Yup, we are kinda boring as of late. I'm not embarrassed by this per se.
