I'll take your word for it, as I am entirely neutral on both Miley and Frank Zappa. Just the way I understood it from reading the article.

But I wouldn't call Elton John a twat for that comparison. Music is a personal thing, and it he saw some parallel there, then so be it.

 

One thing I would mention, being an old man and all, is that a phenomenon that we used to discuss openly, senility, is now ignored entirely. Celebrities and politicians have the resources to keep their appearance as stable as possible. Look at how long Joan Rivers might have continued. I remember the 60s and 70s though and guy who were in their sixties started to lose it, some even sooner. Sure, not all of them, but I'd swear every family seemed to have 1 or 2 senile relatives.

Elton is pretty old, so is Brucey Jenner. And look at Muhammad Ali, that's not all from the punches. Then there's Ozzy, Mel Gibson, Randy Quaid and Nick Nolte. Loons, the whole lot of them. But these days we sanitize the discussion with the clinical names for their conditions. More names means more money for doctors. Always has. And we can't forget Ronald Reagan. Doctors can make the loons look younger, but they're still navigating the world with old fashioned gray matter. And some of them did a LOT of drugs! Elton probably likes Miley cause he thinks she's a 14 year old boy!

 

Calling him a twat as a nod to the op title, and in general, for all his twatness over the years, not just for that one statement. But I will separate that from him as an artist. There's a good bit of music he was responsible for that I do like. Mostly his early stuff.

I think Miley and the Flaming Lips are a conspiracy. Have a friend who is head over heels for Frank Zappa. He thinks it's terrific but I haven't really given it much attention other than to remember that Zappa can solo like a beast.

I do not care if he is or not. I love his songs.
Has nothing to do with his personal self. That is his business and has nothing to do with me.

 

Opinions may vary on the subject but I like Elton John and his early work especially writing with Bernie Taupin was and is some of my favourite go to music.

Zappa was weird against the grain. Miley is just weird grain. Elton is weird grain. Neither Miley nor Elton will have their own hair/beard style universally recognized by barbers.

I'll have good will towards all three of them. Miley really ought to stop shaking her fanny in front of her 8-13 year old fans though. Can't imagine that's a good thing.

 

The flaming part, he's 'owning' it. That means he's proud of who he is, not afraid to show it and doesn't care what people think, in case you weren't familiar with the parlance.

That part is neither here nor there for me. Elton is Elton and he's made some good music. Period

I'll bet if he was called a flaming twat to his face he would say something like "Yeah I am, so what?"

 

Eltons not really gay though, and no ones really going to believe it entirely.

What I mean by that is he just has to stand next to his hubby for everyone to spot the difference.

David is the gay one, whilst every body else never gets to see whats really going, under the hood, behind closed doors as it were...I think everybody gets a general idea of what their "arrangement" is

 

I like Eltons stuff before he started doing all of that Disney shit. I prefer thin doped up Elton John over bloated sell out, bad weave Elton John. Just the shit he said in that little blurb is some of the most dumbass shit I've heard come out of any person.
