StonerBill, I think you are indeed an eloquent poster. Your posts usually are as concise as possible to convey your message. I'm ten years older than you, but often gain insight from your posts, particularly within the last several months.
Several other posters here, young and old, plain-speaking and mystical, and even almost illiterate, are very clever, insightful, and inspiring.
OP: It takes practice to appreciate different writing styles. Sometimes, you have to just click the 'back' button.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that all eloquence is bad. Surely that is patently absurd; would we say Shakespeare was just trying to get attention? Of course not. It has it's place, and it has it's true source.

I think the OP is referring to "forced" eloquence.

I think that the OP would be best off to find an example of 'eloquence' and then to rewrite it in a way that he finds more appropriate, so that we can see the point of this thread

    ps. thank you sheerwackiness :)

one time in kindergarten, I was starving my ass off, and we were coloring at the time.

For some reason, I started to wonder what "blue" tasted like. I figured it must taste pretty good, like candy. So I picked up my blue crayon and took a huge bite out of it.

Anyways, that was my first major disappointment in life. :(

i wouldn't rewrite it..i would edit out all the blathering. there's plenty of examples in the forum...but to pick them out and post them would be mean as to me it would indicate finger-pointing and condescension. and i'm not trying to be condescending here...even if the topic seems to be. i'm not discriminating against anyone who chooses to try to outdo themselves with vivid imagery and concepts..or trying to separate myself from them and giving one of us more worth than the other. personally...i WANT to read people's experiences and the things they've learned that they have to relate...but like i said the attempts to sound deep distract me from the actual meat of the message.

what is the point of this thread? well..that would depend on what your definition of the word "is" is : )

Well I think that since this thread started as a question, you could get the best answer if we knew what you were wondering.

And since you have used the word eloquence in a way that is a bit different, as well as basing your question on a factor relative to you ('Why do people write things that distract me?'-one factor is in the people writing, and the other factor is in it distracting you), an example of this phenomenon would make it all much clearer.

It doesn't have to be of a member posting here

unless this is a habit particularly pronounced by hipforums members?

Im assuming he's referring to you, me, rygoody, burnabowl, shapeshifter, and the like who post these gigantic posts, all completley different, all describing the same thing?
Like my several page theory on the 7 planes of shakti reality, or burnabowls several page trip expereinces?
Maybe Im wrong but thats the vibe I got. If so, your more than welcome to use me as an example, but out of respect to other members, you should probably ask them first if you intend on making an example in your negative light.
