wow i Love that film (and the sound track) has to be my favourite film. I thing the ending, is relation to what jack nicholson (lawer) was saying about freedom. when peole see a free person they get scared, dangerous as it makes tham feel trapped (work slaves) and society is formed in a way which can never allow people to be truly free. and to them wyte and billy had broken out of that system, they had enough money however they were always stopped from becoming truly free untill they died. mabey thats how it is. anyway notice how the last line on the song is somethin (cant rember exactly) like 'all i(he) wantes was to be free, and thats the way it turned out to be' Wow, man ive rambled on alot, i can talk crap if i'm allowed to lol
well I think it's a bit old-fashioned, and that's why it's so much loved, as well as a little bit overrated.. Anyway it's great, a milestone..like so much the scene where they're driving their motorbikes at "Born to be wild" rhythm..
Ha Easy Rider is great. It makes me want to go on a road trip even more! I loved it when Jack Nicholson tries to get high and he doesnt know how to do it. *sighs* "Ah man thats classic"
I have never sat though the whole thing. But i have seen bits and pieces. just the other day I seen the cemetary scene and then the ending and I was freaking out!! I really like the camera angles and the background noises during thier acid trip in the graveyard. It really captures the intesity of a trip, which is a hard thing to do. I'll have to sit down and watch the whole thing.
I'm ashamed to admit that I have never seen 'Easy Rider';-one of the most significant/symbolic films to come out of the youth counter-culture rebellion that imprinted itself upon the late 60s-early 70s. -Having said that ; I have seen 'The Trip' which had the same cast i.e. Peter Fonda/Dennis Hopper/Jack Nicholson - albeit Jack Nicholson was behind the camera rather than in front of it. If anyone is at all interested;- I've done a comprehensive Film Review of 'The Trip' on another Forum & I've posted a direct link to it below. last time I watched it I was on mushrooms and the ending with the rednecks blowing them off the bikes just kept replaying in my head. I've kind of gone off it since then. Very good acting though. Ashiya, your sigs great but it complete buggers up all my pages.
i think that easy rider is a really far out movie... i saw it for the first time on saturday...the only thing that baffles me is the ending...did those rednecks just shoot them for kicks or were they friends with those other rednecks who killed george?
o i jus seen it the other day... iwas a lil stoned so it was kinda hard for me 2 understand, but i got it. haha. i like when jack nicholson is all telling all this shit about aliens. like he knows a whole bunch about his lil theory haha. and when at the end those guys aim a shotgun at dennis hopper(right?!) and he just flips them off. haha.
That scene was improvised, apparently I think this is my favourite Jack Nicholson performance. Injuns!
I still don't understand why those hippies of the commune didnt accept Dennis Hopper in their little meeting. What did he do wrong??? He was a littlebit paranoia but he had smoked loads of weed. I would also be a littlebit strange. What was the message behind this scene because I find this scene really a big bummer. It doesn't reflect the warmness and sweetness I associate with the love generation.
The movie was very clever. Few movies can have only one good scene of dailague and still be really good. The shooting of the film was great. I thought that it didn't always flow to great but it worked. Jack Nicholson was agreat as always. Like I was saying though untill that one scene right before Jack Nicholson's character dies the movie was lacking something but then it all came togather to make it worth watching. cutting this movie was likelly a good idea.
Jack Nicholson is hilarious in this movie. Seen it too many times to count. The scene in the graveyard is very well done, I have been to Marti Gras and hung out in a cemetary like that one, maybe it was the same one?? Anyway, the ending always gets me, especially being from a small town.
I dunno, apart from seeing a couple of really nice Panhead chops, what point was there to this movie and why was it supposed to be so great? Movies are supposed to end, not simply stop. (No spoilers) Them breaking an antique grave was uncool, too. And can someone PLEASE tell me how you would expect to get from Tijuana to New Orleans on a Panhead without having to replace a generator, chain, blown engine case etc. Especially with a peanut tank half taken up with a giant roll of gas-proof hose? That was the LEAST realistic part of the film. Where were the hours of cursing trying to fix a set of points with baling wire?
That's exactly what I thought...lol I don't want to see that. They can't add in every single detail of the character's lives. How long would movies be if we saw every detail lol? They condense it down,so movies are only a few hours long.
