While your sacrifice would be quite appreciated, it may only prolong my life here on earth, but since you are a man, and not Christ in the flesh, it wouldn't save me from eternal damnation. Although, the idea of someone who isn't saved, sacrificing their life for another would be pretty remarkable.
Bill, Jesus sacrifice was great than "yours to be" because we beleive him to have been perfect, completely sinless. and so in the same way as it would be as Epiphany said, "the idea of someone who isn't saved, sacrificing their life for another would be pretty remarkable." with Jesus it was even more remarkable because he was sacrificing his perfect life, for all of us who have lived in sin. and it was only because of his perfection along with the fact that he was god/man (a bit like a superhero) that he was able to then take on all our sins and take our punishment instead. i guess it's 'cause if you died then it is simply the punishment for your own sin, if jesus hadn't taken on our sin he wouldn't have ever died, "the wages of sin is death, the gift of god is life" (sorry that is the bob marley quote i couldn't remember the bible version but he is quoting the bible) i've probly missed something out and this doesn't make sense 'cause i'm really tiered sorry.
sigh * are you people incapable of understanding that the value of my life next to jesus is irrelevant, im tlaking about the personal sacrifice you thank jesus or dont thank me for!
I didn't understand either, but what he's asking is this: Since we should thank Christ for the personal sacrifice that He made so that we could have everlasting life, because He just as easily could have decided not to do it (He was G-d made man, after all, I'm pretty much under the impression that He could do anything He decided to do), would you think about StonerBill's sacrifice after the fact, and thank him for it, if he gave his life to save yours? I said yes, I would think about his sacrifice, and thank him for it, assuming that he made it to heaven, and G-d didn't mind having an angel deliver my message of thanks to him.
the thing ois thogh jesus cud ahv easilly called upon crap loads fo angels to save him if he wanted to...he cuda though screw the world im off......but no,he sacrafised his life for our freedom, now u try tellin me that if u had ppl rippin ure flesh so bad that u were unrecognisable that u w2udt back out if u had the chance.
nope..i dont even wear one with jesus on it...i wear an empty cross....jesus rose again remember? roly.xxx
well, remember people, he couldnt have sinned. how does he get out of that situation without sinning? no, really, how does he?
Which situation? The one about being tempted to not go to the cross? It's not really a sin to be tempted, the sin is in the action. In Luke Chapter 4, Satan tempts Christ with the things most humans would not be able to resist... To make food from stone when in dire hunger (to create something we want from something useless to us), to be ruler of all he surveys (to be powerful over many), or to put G-d to the test (this is more for Christians, sometimes we'd like to wave a magic wand and prove our L-rd's existance... Needless to say, it doesn't work like that ). Of course, my L-rd is too strong to be weak to things of this world, so he denies Satan and sends him away. Or did I screw up and misinterpret your question again?
Nah. "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." It's the thought that counts. Satan: I offer you this middle eastern chick!!! You cannot resist her because you have not been laid for 30 years!!! hahahahaha!! Jesus: Right. You got me. She really turns me on after doing angels for thousands of years before I came to tell you punks about God. Satan: Trade heaven for a loaf of banana nut bread!!! You haven't eaten in days!!! Jesus: I've had heaven and I've had banana nut bread... Let's see. No. Satan: I will give to you all the kingdoms of the earth instead of crucifying you if you just bow your knee to me and have me as your master! Jesus: Yeah. Stay here on earth to rule eternally and suffer the loss of heaven. Hmm. Or die here on earth and go back to heaven. <taps fingertips together rapidly> Damn. This is a hard one. Gimme a minute. You think you could throw in the fat chick and the nut bread? Maybe I'd do it then. It's not strength that Jesus has, it's wealth and taste. The dude is a pompous spoiled piece of shit from heaven that had to do duty on earth in order to maintain eligibility to stay in heaven. The fucker got crucified. I might like him when I meet him, I might not. I'll tell you what though- If you had the stuff of heaven, you would turn up your nose at Satan's "temptations" too. Nothing Satan could offer Mr. High and Mighty could come close to what Jesus has waiting at home.
That's not fair, just because I didn't understand what you were asking??? All right, my apologies... You could be less vague in your questions, though. We're not supposed to go out of our way to revel in our sinful thoughts... That's a little different from being tempted. Lust works on a very powerful level for some people, first they're thinking these thoughts, then they're doing it with the neighbor's wife...
Sorry if this has been said before, I haven't read the whole thread. But, my friend told me his vicar said this in relation to looking at people lustfully: "To look once is only human, but to look twice is a sin" I guess he means that the initial lustful look is kinda ok, but if you indulge in it then it becomes a sin... Love Clairexxx
Yup, that's pretty much what I was getting at. It's also the difference between undressing some nice proper girl who's merely walking down the street with your eyes, and being tempted because some totally naked broad has thown herself at your feet, screaming "HAVE SEX WITH ME!" The first situation is a bit naughty, but that second situation... That's totally understandable!
