It is true life. I'd much rather read truth than a made up story. It might be boring to you now, but if you open your mind, and let Jesus in your heart then it will become exciting to you.

According to christianity suicide is a sin right? So StonerBill's suicide wo9uld send him to hell, not heaven. So would therefore it not be a bigger sacrifice as he would be sending himself supposedly to eternal damnation for people's sin?

It's amazing that people come in here and try to be inteligent but then refuse to actualy read up on someting. That would be like me writing a book report on a book I never read. Also, when you guys come in here and pretend to be smart, could you at least run your post through a spell checker or something?

As far as you trying to sacrafice your life for the world. You can't do it. To be honest your death would not mean anything to a lot of people. Granted if you took a bullet for someone, then yes, I am quite sure that person would be quite greatfull of the sacrafice you made. However, your sacrafice would not allow him or any other person in this world entrance into Heaven.

I do find it funny that an atheist as yourself is now using words to imply that you believe Jesus Christ was indead real and did indeed die for our sins.

One last thing. I don't understand why you find it necessary to come in here and pretend you are truly seeking knowledge. All you do is come in here and try to stir up things. If you truly wanted questions answered, not only would you be in here asking serious questions, but you would also be reading The Bible. As you have stated before however, you do not have the will nor the patience to do so. So, on that note I ask you this. Stop comming in here looking for a fight. Stop comming in here trying to cause problems. You have added nothing of benifet to any of the topics you have posted in and it is really begining to annoy me. If your actions continue, I will bring this matter up with the Forum Leaders and ask that you be permantly banned from here as you are breaking so many rules.

wella ctually that would make it an even greater sacrifice, for jesus went to heaven, id be sacrificing my life, + eternal happiness (or even contentment for that matter)

and northernlehigh, if you read a fantasy novel but believed it was true, im sure youd find it more interesting or at least satisfying. the fact is, i do not believe in jesus and god, and for someone who doesnt beleive, hte bible is the worst piece of reading material possible.

I cannot believe in christianity wihtout having all of my memory erased. it is physychologically impossible for me to genuinely believe in chrsitianity wihtout seeing a reason that apeases my requirements.

I cannot just open my heart ot jesus. it causes a paradox if in order to read and find substance in the bible, i need to open my heart to jesus, when the onyl way i can open my heart to jesus is to read and find substance in the bible. Of course its easy if you just skip one (everyone chooses opening to jesus first, except those very few like campbell, but hes a different story alltogether) but that doesnt fit in to my psychology to allow for genuine belief.

the only way i can become christian is after my beliefs against christianity are shown to be false wihtout resorting to ideas of 'faith' and on a requirement to believe in order to beleive (like the paradox i mentioned)

thats waht this is about, so in a way you can see this as me trying to become a christian lol not as an attack on the church. ;)

so yeh, to a nonbeliever, the bible is a story (ive not read through the preminitions parts of the bible, ive only looked at the early part (like, the first few books that are the torah i think, about teh story of the religion coming to be and the base rules being layed down) and the NT, which is definately more interesting to read.

the only thing i can get from the bible without checking all the prediction's truths is a sense of togetherness and that it is genuine and continuous, and ive not got that.

Ive enjoyed reading genisis and exodus and the like (though the bits where generations are counted down often lose me) but whenever i read them, there is no truth about them. there is nohting realistic about them either, they are written jsut teh same way a made up story is written, or any other religious text is. then i remember that its actualyl the text of the jews, and think tis funny how christians can deny all religious texts as being genuine, when their religion is based on an adaption of a previous religion. then i remember the book is open in front of me and start reading again.

and anyway, thesus is true life too, theyre not made up

if the bible was such a bad read how come so many song wrtitters, poets, atists
have been influenced by it,how come its stillthe best sellin book in the world........
and actually if u actually read the bible likr properly, and looked for the things that u feel u need guidence in ure life,u wud find the answers, the bible teches on marriage, love, war, money,LIFE and most of all wisdom and truth.
the bible was not written for entertainment it was written to guide ppls lives and share wisdom to other ppl, shine truth in2 ppls hearts and to give encouragenent to those who need it.

First of all, I have to say that many of your christian buddies are hounding us over on the political forums right now about the end of the world. SO please don't act like it is only the christians getting picked on here.

    Very well said, great point.

This, in my opinion, I would have to disagree with. The bible is a facinating read. Studying the religion is facinating as well. Of course all this is based on personal opinion, and I can completely understand yours. As a young child I never found the bible intersting at all. As I grew older and gained the capacity to actually apply some independant thought to the stories in the book, i really enjoyed it.

I hate the assumption that just because you aren't a christian you must not have read the bible.

ok i was d/c from internet for a bit and lots of posts have come up, to respond, if people can become chrsitians wihtout reading all of the bible, then i shoudlnt have to either really, oitherwise it proves that many christians do not choose their faith under full knowlege of it in teh first place, which is somehting i wont touch on ebcause i dont want to go onto a tangent that would onyl be repeating thigns vie been tlaking about ehre anyway and in other threads.

though arlia why must i say it again that the values of chirisitanity go nowhere to show its truth. i dont need to be chrsitian to follow all the morals and ethics tought in teh bible. Do you think that without them you would still be christian? If yes, then good, dont raise those issues because they are irrelevant in how much the bible is a genuine account. If no, then you prove that you belief christianity is about its values and not the truth of a god and of jesus being his son and everyhitng else, in which case im a better 'christian' than most 'christians'.

this post is meant to be back a page or so in response to bandit

bandit, If all the world's scientific knowlege could be fixed into a one text, would you read it? no! neither would I, but im still an atheist. the essence of belief should not require me to read the whole bible if it were true.

none of my questions have been mockingly written or unintelligent, they all raise issues to do with your religion. if it were flawless then there would be no questiosn to ask. its not. so htere are many questions to ask, and since your religion claims to have everyhting known (which mine doesnt) then there should be no problem with me, or anyone, asking as many questions as we want. when i first came in here, i posted a bad few posts but since then i settled down, and have not posted any blatant insult, or directly disturbing post yet. ive been humble and rational, i dont care if you cant handle my incessent questioning.

It is part of my beliefs (general philosophy, not religious) that language is a totally subjective thing, and so only needs to convey meaning ithgouth the few characters this computer can represent. spelling only means more work on my part and less work on your part, and since i do unto otheras as i would have them do unto you, since i wouldnt care if your typing was shoddy, i dont care that you care that my typing is shoddy, jsut as i dont care that brock thinks that, or any of you pedants in here.
as long as you are intelligent enough to understand the words im typing then i shoudlknt need to spellcheck it. if you cant understand the words then sometimes its understandable, if its for pedantisicms sake then complaining about it means nothing.

in terms of this thread, in repsonse to your post, you have not adressed any of the issues raised except the basic level of my first question. many of you frequent poster christians do it all the time, and your the onyl ones who have problems with my questions.

dont tell me im wrong, show me im wrong, otherwise you cant tell me im doing the wrong thing perhaps if i say

    YOUR A FUCKING IDIOT

for instnace. im not going to say that, because since i do not want the same logic shown back (though you keep doing it) i keep my posts to open as many issues as i can.

in terms of me apparently beleiveing jesus was real, i talk about christianity as if it were real in order to get christians to respond properly. I also talk like that because ive gone to chrsitian schools almsot all my life and so hear the terms all teh time. i also know that christians will reply sencerely when someone gives a situation where they are correct, as do most people. obviosuly i cant do this all the time, so it is often selectively done, and i assume people realise im a christian and am hypothesising when i rrefer to god or msot events in the bible.

and for the record, I do not think that jesus never existed. I beleive it is more possible than not that jesus was a real person, but not the son of a 'god', a concept that I do not beleive in.

man people are getting a bit edgey, Bill you are asking some good questions and it has given me things to think about, cheers

soulless please we christians are happy as christians we have faith in our beleifs and are happy so be happy for us, if you don't agree with the way we live then thats fine if there are christians somewhere trying to force there beleifs on you then fuck them up 'cause although evangelism is all good it shouldn't be forcefull just tell em about jesus and let them decided the problem is when a discusion that could have been quite deep and intelectual conversation gets fucked by people getting overly defencive on both sides of the fence.

arlia, it's a sad fact but some people don't and will never understand and will never want to just try your hardest in a non forcefull way to express the joy you have found in christ then it is up to God and the individual if they are a step of faith is to be taken.

    1 Peter 5: 2-4
2)Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3)not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4)And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

If I may take a verse from the christian bible to suppliment what Peppy is saying.

quote: wud liek to see biblical proof of that please

Thank you for distinguishing between "proof" and "biblical proof" the latter being open to manipulation and conjecture.
