Watching something briefly and transplanting already conceived opinions (primarily about reality TV)

Just not making a very good case with any type of evidence.

Just getting things wrong, imho.

The worst aspects of HF's...

 

Taking a flamethrower to a beaver damn seems pretty selfish and the red-neck version of hedonistic.
The same episode had the mother 'open a restaurant', which because of the set up, was really only for one night to get the drama of duck dudes trying to be waiters. Buying or renting a place just for a one night stunt, is hedonistic and beyond anything that even a fairly well off person would waste thier money on. Selfish and hedonistic.

What is wrong about not really caring about what someone from that show exactly said outside it or not.
Wading into a topic I don't know much about.... You mean the topic that it might be over because of what he said? Then you're right, cause I wasn't aware of anything someone of that show said outside it. If you mean the topic Duck Dynasty in general I am fully entitled to what I said.
If you don't think a person can't have a well founded opinion after watching more than 2 episodes then you might be the one who's wrong.

 

Because I came to a different conclusion as you? Didn't you say you didn't watch 2 episodes at all? How can you know you are sure then. Perhaps we watched different episodes

 

I've watched enough to know they have 'stunts' in the show to make it more interesting. But the core of the family values seems to be far from 'selfish' or 'hedonistic'... what selfish and hedonistic couple adopt a child and raise him as their own and the rest of the family treat that person as family?

 

One very rich red-neck with a vast fan base. The bigots are loosing thier shit because AE is gonna dump the show. The rest of us are loosing our shit because half of the country is showing itself as rascist homophobes by standing up for him.

It may suck that celebrity can effect popular opinion but to ignore that this happens and has an impact is blind.

Does one or two or even hundreds acts of kindness negate the hedonism and selfishness of the show? No. I'll concede when they do the show for free. And I say this as someone who is a hedonist, myself.

I think you are antfucking (or projecting other peoples verdicts on me as well, as I have not expressed any opinion redneck or racist related. Oh they have adopted a kid so they can't express selfish and hedonistic behaviour anymore..?). But I'm willing to play along just for you. To be clear: i'm not saying these people are selfish hedonistic or rotten to the core or something. I don't know these people anyway, because reality show is rarely not partly scripted and thus never pure reality. I don't pretend to know the people in it but I saw their behaviour and have formed an opinion about that and the show. I was talking about the behaviour and talk expressed by members of that family in the parts that I saw, and I was judging the show based on the expressed behaviour in it.

 

can we just move on, to something better to talk bout? instead of this pointless babel
