drugs dont magically turn anyone into a genius.. the artists who did genius stuff while they were on drugs were originally sober geniuses.
but i guess its a nice fantasy to think that this or that drug will turn u into rimbaud or picasso

i've heard that he did actually put it together in three days on a speed binge, but that most of the ideas had already been written in journals and he was just sort of putting it together.

drugs haven't really helped my writing except for a few times on LSA and amphetamines separately. in general, if i'm going to go for "drug based writing", i find it best to write while i'm sober about things that occured to me on drugs (with the exception of amphetamines, but i don't like doing speed any more, the comedown makes me feel psychotic). that way i can "isolate" the experience itself when i'm twisted, and then think about it in "normal" terms when i'm sober and bring it together to actually mean something. if i try to write when i'm tripping/whatever i usually either have no interest in sitting down with a pen and paper or the writing itself is irrelevant later.

You're kinda misinturpretting the question. the question wasn't asking "what drugs will magically turn you into a genius" or "what drugs did all the geniuses use to make them smart?"

the question was "What drugs do you like to use while you're writing"

This type of personal attack is unacceptable and I have asked site management to bar you from Hip Forums.

    You started it!

BTW, Kerouac did write it all on a speed binge. He wrote the entire novel on one roll of paper.

I might add that my best work and highest grades in College were do to taking a prescription amphetamine - fastin (only used my last semester). I could memorize entire passages (that I'd written) and regurgitate them verbatim on an essay test. I was pretty creative at that time too. Now I write sometimes while stoned, but it's better when I'm caffeinated too.

I just looked up Fastin cause I know someone's gonna want it. Well DON'T do it! It's not the same as what I used back in College. It's a false dietary supplement, not a prescription drug like it used to be. The original no longer exists (as I thought). Another company bought the name but it doesn't have the same ingredients and is just a rip-off that you can buy over the counter.

I refer you to Guideline number 4, with regard to flaming/trolling/stalking. Personal attacks are not allowed here.

If this guideline is no longer in effect, please let me know and I will act accordingly. Or maybe it applies to some users, but not others?

    And guideline 4 says:
Flaming/Trolling/Stalking: Flames are posts intended to insult and provoke.

One might consider your first post in this thread to be in violation of this guideline.

I agree with Skip man, you did start it.

Not a problem. In fact, I'm in favor of hard drugs. If it weren't for hard drugs, all of these airheads would live to adulthood.
