Yeh but then there's the dilemma of the impact of growing soy beans on mass! Meh :(
Gotta get me my farm soon, so I can go milk Daisy morning and evening, and make sure she's happy and play nice music to her and let her do all sorts of fun cowy things :)

I'm not familiar with this, mind briefing me in? And yes, it seems like growing your own food is the only sure way. Perhaps, someday....

unfortunately, whether it's organic or not, any large scale dairy farm uses "modern technology" for milking, which means those poor cows are suffering from mechanical milking meathods. have you ever been to a dairy farm? it's really sad.... but, anywhere you can find a farm with a milk cow, you can get fresh milk, which would be much more humane... the cows actually WANT to be milked... they NEED to be milked, it's really sad that they get hurt in the process.... a farmer who has just a few cows would be milking them by hand, and each cow produces approximately 4 gallons of milk each day, so there is LOTS left over....
i so cannot give up cheese though. OMG. i think i would loose it. i really would.

also, there is a standard which we THINK we're getting with "organic" or "free range" (in the case of poultry) which could actually mean something completely different.... such as chickens being allowed 5 minutes of open coop time, and organic vegetables not being sprayed, but grown in soil that's been "fertilized" (by chemicals and pesticides, etc...)

there's a double standard for sure. the only way you KNOW you're not getting any of that stuff is to find a farmer who milks the cow him/herself.... get is fresh....

also, i've heard that the processessing required that goes into making soy products renders it actually no better for you than eating kraft slices.... or something similar... velveta... yuck. i'd rather stick to the real stuff.

well, not the only option, no.... but... yeah.
i mean, i eat dairy from the grocery store.... i know what i'm supporting... but, i mean, it's HARD to be completely ethical... especially where i live!!.... so, i try to just, do what i can to enjoy life, but still make a concious effort to reduce my impact, i guess. eventually i will get a cow.... however, they are a HUGE responsibility, and now is not the time for that.
