Don't know what to make of this.

I don't think it is simply about him being tasteless. This is about disrespect. There are many ways to show it. I think that is what dawn_sky was attempting to point out. She was comparing the two on the level that people rationalize the same way in both situations. She was telling her not to put up with being treated the way he is. I question whether he really loves her. She has to decide if she wants to remain in a relationship like that.
