I think if you recognize it, you couldn't be a part of it------unless you are helping to create it for purposes of control.

I used to think this way until i realized how pathetically low voter turn out is. Basically voting doesnt make a difference because no one bothers to vote, because they think it doesnt make a difference. It is a self perpetuating cycle.

There are other elections besides the presidential one and these smaller elections are where you actually have a chance to make your voice heard.

Then when it comes to the presidential election just vote third party. It isnt a wasted vote. If a third party gets a certain percentage of the vote theyll start getting federal funding for elections and actually have a real chance of ending the two party system.

The British have always been somewhat grudging in their respect of America - at least that's my perception. For a few years after the second world war they were seen as the one's who saved us from Hitler, (the Russians who played a larger role in his defeat never got that) but at the same time there has always been a trend to regard 'Americanization' as a bad thing. Still, it's something that is a fait accompli in many ways.

Now America has it's very own would be Hitler, and he gets a lot of support from some layers of American society. Even the right over here are uneasy about him.

Fundamentalism thrives in several countries in Africa and the middle east.

Hey, you sent us some of your worst rejects, back in colonial times. Some of their descendants haven't gotten a lot smarter or more sophisticated.

Savannah, Georgia was also used for the same purpose.

Many early colonists in other US east coast states came because they couldn't make it in England, even though most had not been in trouble with the law. Why leave England in 1750 if your life there was already good?

People transported to 'the American colonies' were branded with a letter 'T' on the hand. At least according to Daniel Defoe in 'Moll Flanders' (doesn't sound very English does he).
Maybe a lot of people who sailed to the New World were religious fanatics who didn't fit in and weren't wanted in Europe.

I'm well aware that there are many smart Americans - unfortunately a lot of idiots too. Personally, I don't have any issues with anyone just because of their nationality - if I did I'd have fled the forums long since.

I usually vote for statewide measures that affect my local tax laws, state justice system, drug laws, GMO laws, and so on. Large scale politicians not so much, if ever.

It would be nice, but I don't foresee the 2-party system ending in my lifetime. Perhaps one of the giants will fall and another will rise up to take its place. Which is sorta what happened when the Republicans took the place of the dying Whig party.

Oh, I know. A lot has changed over the centuries, but no place ever gets completely beyond its heritage.

The ghosts of the Tower of London will always cast a shadow, as will the slave market of Charleston, SC.

I blame the Social Justice Warrior movement for most of Trump's victories. For too long the PC police have been bullying people with their intimidation tactics, censorship, and labeling of bigotry of people who don't rightfully deserve it. Donald Trump's campaign is about as politically incorrect as it gets, even for my own taste. He doesn't let the SJWs affect him in any way with his rhetoric and word choice. He says things a lot of people are too afraid to say for fear of being bullied and censored. They are tired of being told to check their privilege. And I think that Trump is a backlash against the fascism of political correctness.

SJWs and the PC Police: you brought this on yourselves.

Rep. Seth Moulton compares Trump to Hitler [IMG]

Congressman Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) sees similarities between the quick rise of Donald Trump today and Adolf Hitler in the 1930s.

“When you’re in politics, one of the cardinal rules is you never say what I’m about to say,” the former Iraq veteran said in a taped conversation with the Boston Globe on Wednesday.
Then he said it: “People should read the history of how Germany elected Hitler."

“I’m not saying that Donald Trump is necessarily Hitler,” Moulton, who has endorsed Hillary Clinton, continued. “I’m not saying that. But you ought to understand how an unbelievably educated advanced society can elect a demagogue and how bad it can get as a result.”

This is exactly what happens when changes to society are engineered instead of being allowed to form organically. There is always a reaction. The whole basis of "Political Correctness" seems to be "If I'm offended by something about YOU, it's all YOUR fault and you must alter your behavior/appearance/beliefs/traditions immediately". The advent of "Social Justice Whiners" (as I see them) has really dashed my opinion of higher learning environments. Just by being an "old white man" I am the wellspring of microaggressions and any hatred hurled my way is considered to be entirely earned by my "white privilege".

How long do people think they can spew hatred before a reaction comes about? And how long are we as a nation expected to endure lies in the name of "social justice"? Sure, there's some fucked up aspects to the US. But we have people out there now saying that nothing has changed since the 60s. Really? It's as if all the progress we made just vanished one night. I think a substantial portion of this has been engineered specifically to drive Americans toward each other's throats. Knowing this is depressing.

I have never liked Trump and can only tolerate him in small doses. The thought of him as president makes my skin crawl because I know it will be the most pompous administration since Buchannan or Taft. I'll see his ugly mug every day of my life if he wins. His teams of bean counters will mount a campaign to alienate and vilify government workers and few in the population will feel sorry for them.

We'll have DMV workers actually greeting people! But, with Trump will come war. I doubt his mob connections can handle Isis. Hillary will do what Bill did, pay the bullies to leave us alone. She'll keep the drones flying just in case somebody doesn't get the memo.
