Something I say all the time..."what" is not nearly important as "why".
The "what" is Trump is leading all polls and has crossed political parties.
The "why" is just how did a bombastic, reality TV star spoiled rich kid get to this position?
The answer to that is Obama and now Hillary..a career politician, an elitist, corporatist and exactly the type of candidate that everyone is sick of.
No one but hardened party loyalist truly support her.
So...we get Trump. He is different. Just like people perceived Obama to be 8 years ago. Obama didn't win based on his experience, record - anything that had to do with him. He won because people thought he was different. He wasn't.
A carnival show like Trump is leading only because people think he is different.

The Laws of power state that you should never reveal your true colors, and that sometimes appearing dumber than you actually are can be advantageous in certain cases; never outshine your master, etc.

This burden should fall on the CEO's of the corporations, not on the workers....

Truth spoken, some of these CEOs ought to be thrown in prison, or taken out back and shot between the eyes for their crimes against humanity.

An employee of a company should own part of the company, since they are doing most of the work; they should have shareholder rights and benefits, not just some commodity to be traded on the market for the "best price".

It's funny how similar those 2 words appear but how different they are in meaning.

In this case I assume it is coincidence.

I have yet to see a single good quality in him.

Where are these polls that supposedly show Democratic support for Trump? Fox News?

Yeah but corporate CEOs have no incentive to bring jobs back from overseas. Even though we've seen wage stagnation and record inflation in areas like rental and daycare costs, inflation on consumer goods has remained very low, allowing low paid hourly workers to still be able to afford all the sweatshop-produced wares these corrupt corporations are peddling.

I would love to see some radical changes made from the top down, but as long as politicians are getting a cut of the profit from corporations I don't think it will happen. Consumers need to stop consuming anything made overseas to see any real change.

I don't think it is, the word corporation was chosen, based on the definition of what a corporation is, a group of people acting "coorperatively" as a single entity.

I thought it has been around since medieval days, possible even to the days when the latin language was really alive and kicking (roman empire era)

Unfortunately, the average consumer won't pay even 1% more for an American-made item.

Free trade is a disaster when one country treats its workers very differently from another.

Trump has no special insight into any of this because he's a commercial real estate guy. Our economic problems have nothing to do with the commercial real estate market. He's never led a company that produces a useful product or service, as its primary focus.

I don't even know where to buy American made goods except in overpriced boutique stores - I guess it isn't really fair to call them overpriced though, if they had more business they would be able to lower their prices.

I try not to buy foreign made products as much as possible, more out of a moral protest of sweatshops than concern for the American economy, but it means I have to do a lot of thrift store shopping and repurposing and upcycling.

I agree about Donald Trump's work experience, never really understood why people think a real estate mogul is qualified to run a country

    ...and Hillary has?
We get what we deserve. Americans sleep while the wolves eat the livestock.
One one hand, we have a woman who doesn't have a skeleton in her closet - she has a mass grave. She is the archetype of well connected elitist Washington politicians. She is the exact opposite of what this country needs. We do not need yet another corporatist elitist to continue the onslaught on the middle class that has continued for over 30 years.
Not to say Trump is exactly what we need either. He is not. But to address the OP - he is on the forefront because people so desperately want somene to make a difference. Germany elected Hitler, a true maniac because they were desperate for change.
Obama was elected by the same principle. Trump just might get elected because the alternative is more of the same.
